Oh, and potatoes. Most definitely scrap the tuna and add potatoes.

10 Low-Budget Pantry Items Everyone Should Have

This is a very good list.

I'd just like to note that if you eat lots of oats, you can get them very inexpensively in a 50-lb bag. I buy mine by the 50-lb bag for $21, which equals $.42/lb.

Celery, carrots, and apples are a good thing to add to the list as well.

I love the tile. Live with it a while, find some accessories to tie the colors in together, and you might find you like it. If you remodel, you can never, ever get this back again, and any new updates will become dated before you know it anyway. This bathroom is unique, interesting, and fun. I'd love to have it in my house!

The vanity was horrible, but I loved the darling pink tile and the gray tub. Sad to see that go. All it really needed as a new shower curtain and a cute little vintage sink with chrome legs.

I love #3. Leftovers are such a great time-saver, I'm always happy to have them.

I don't know how a VeggiChop is, but I love the vintage Sunbeam Oskar food processor. While not a "gadget" by the definition above, it's compact, easy to clean, and it's powerful.

The Top 10 Most Useful Kitchen Gadgets

Utility knife
Immersion blender
Can opener (definitely a vintage Swing-A-Way, like the one shown in the photo above)
Sunbeam Oskar vintage food processor, powerful, yet compact
Foley food mill (vintage ones are the best)
Cast iron skillet
Stainless Dutch oven with a heavy bottom
Wood spoon--the older, the better
Spatula (my favorite is a vintage Flint stainless slotted spatula)
Ladle (I like the vintage Flint stainless ladle)

Personally, I'd skip the regular stores and go straight to an estate sale where you'll get the quality old stuff, and spend far less, too.

What Tools and Appliances Do I Need for a New Kitchen?Product & Shopping Questions

Actually, parts for the Oster Kitchen Center are not that difficult to get. They are readily available online. I've sold many, many of them, and always have some parts available, if not always a full array.

I agree with E.Oliver that getting a new one when you already know you like the old one is often a mistake.

I love the gorgeous kitchen, and I'm sure music will sound better for having been composed there.

I just saw a painted-on one somewhere last week, now this. Is this a sign that I'm supposed to put a headboard on my wall?

We got rid of our microwave and found we eat less, eat together as a family more often, and eat more veggies raw instead of cooking them.

I now have a theory that the obesity epidemic is because of convenience, be it packaged food and snacks or microwave ovens.

Definitely small changes can make a big difference.

Love this feature! All that's in my drawer, practically, are vintage kitchen utensils. There's something about the durability and feel of them. If they've lasted 50 years already, they are likely to last 50 more. Who wants new junk? That's no fun!

Vintage Kitchen Tool: Can You Guess What It Is?

I love this. As a dealer in quality vintage kitchen items, I appreciate someone else who recognizes that the scratches and marks can be seen as "love marks," not just scratches rendering an item unsuitable. I dare to guess those who get rid of their quality old pans to replace them with newer ones will come to regret it.
