You didn't mention how much it is? I'd get it and slipcover, even just the curved center piece. I recently aquired a similar piece (just the curved center part) and I slipcovered it to great effect. Maybe you could do something like I did and it wouldn't be too expensive. See mine here: http://www.hayestone.blogspot.com/2012/04/hand-printed-slipcover-for-vintage.html. Good Luck!

Darn! My blog is nominated in the wrong category! It's here in Home design but should be in DIY. Is there any way to move it?

Thanks again everybody! @ ilovedamasks: I painted the arch freehand, but I had to find the center of the wall both horizontally and vertically and then used a pencil tied to a string which was pinned at the center point to create an even half circle (it acts as a kind of compass) I then moved the pin up about six inches and created the second (top) line of the arch. The corners are just stenciled, so it's paint, the same teal blue used elsewhere. The hanging blue thing are glass grapes i found at Goodwill. Read about that project here: http://hayestone.blogspot.com/2010/11/glass-grapes-and-raindrops.html. Thanks for all the great questions!
Cheers,
Laura

LOVE: The color! The pooches! The blue in the stair landing! The artwork!
Don't love: No lightswitch cover on the switch by the front door. I know, I know, you'll get to it.... I'm just detail oriented that way ;-)
Nice room!

Interesting...I like the space, it's amazing, but after all the other comments i went back and looked at the photos carefully. NONE of the lighting shown is turned on, yet the space is evenly and brightly lit. There is a ladder running up the wall in the corner behind the dining table, presumably to a loft space? I don't know about anyone else, but climbing a ladder like that daily would have me looking for new diggs within a week! Aaaaand the styling is cracking me up! The casually placed magazines on the bed, the hat on the bench at the foot of the bed, the backgammon game on the couch, the sunglasses on the coffee table, the shoes! It's all just too perfect! Having said all that, I *DO* really like the room/space/retail vignette. Nice looking spot!

I painted my kitchen cabinets in Hallowed Hush and it has become one of my fave 'go-to' colors. And I have that same Ikea rug! Nice room :-)

Oh and @ spaceystacey, I had to look up entredeux...I had no idea what that meant! But now that I know, you're right, it *does* look like that! Cool reference, thanks for increasing my vocabulary :-)

Cute! My favorite simple little touches? The green bottles in the window and the framed spoons. Nice!

What a cozy room! Love the hanging bubble glass candle holders, love the mosaic tabletop and love the artwork/drawing above the terrarium candles holder, but mostly love the color!

Thanks so much everybody! There are some pretty amazing spaces in this contest, glad to be among them all.

@EC, the paint technique on the green involves flinging water at halfway dry paint, letting it drip and then lifting the newly wet paint back off, creating a lighter area. The teal is just watered down paint, literally washed on with a rag. Both techniques are pretty easy...

@Home Body, Thanks for the suggestion, I might try it! In real life, they don't seem quite as high as they appear in the photos here. But I am 5'11" tall, so maybe my 'eye level' is higher than most :-)

@Lady J, I could only submit 5 photos and for cohesiveness, showed only that side of the room. You can see more of my home on my blog www.hayestone.blogspot.com/p/my-home.html

@Pinkett The couch/settee is from Urban Outfitters about 5 years ago, what they called a floor cushion platform. I added my own cushions and pillows and that's what I use instead of a couch. I love how it's low to the ground, which is consistent with Moroccan furniture. You can find things like lanterns and poufs at places like Z Gallerie, HomeGoods and Ross and mix them in with all the popular textiles out right now; Quatefoils, arabesques and even the ever trendy chevron all have roots in Moroccan design.

@RocketScientist and stellarkar, woot woot, Tucson in tha' House!

@joseph23, No, those aren't Christmas balls hanging from the ceiling, but thanks for the idea!! If you are interested, you can find out what they are by visiting my blog here: http://hayestone.blogspot.com/2010/11/glass-grapes-and-raindrops.html

Hey, thanks everybody for taking time out of your day to leave a comment! Win or lose, glad to be here!

I'm sorry, but I found it in very poor taste to include the comment “A friend called it the rape shack,” she laughs. ' Was it really necessary? Ok, the shack was dilapidated, but that comment could have easily been edited out and we the readers would have been none the wiser.

Thanks for all the great comments! You guys rock! I got the tablecloth at Target on clearance back in March, don't think the round one is available anymore, but the rectangular one is still online....But cute round tablecloths are easy to find. I have used the one in the picture above in my kitchen as well, and it performed great there. I moved it to several spots in my home before it landed in my daughters room, where I like it the best! I'm going to try a rectangular one next....now to just find the right cloth at the right price. Thanks again everybody! If you have any questions, I encourage you to visit my blog and read the post.....Bye!
