Promising headline, fluff content. I learned a whole lot of nothing from this article. You can do better, Kitchn!

I love this topic. Food habits are so fascinating :)
I have two. One, I fold wrappers. Candy wrappers or especially gum wrappers, I like to fold them into very small, very crisp little rectangles. Been known to fold napkins up, too. I can't stand crumpling them!
Two, I eat my Oreos like cereal, in a bowl. They get more milk that way, and a nice half crisp, half soggy texture if you time it just right.

Clever idea. I never throw out the scraps, but I dread how long it takes to roll and re-roll and re-roll dough, so I often just avoid cutout cookies altogether. The dough seems to go on forever!

This is a lot like my kitchen, in the apartment I rent in a 100-year-old house. I also can't do much to it and it's funky, but I adore it. There's so much personality and so many memories - there is no other kitchen like it. This is the first of these posts I've really been able to relate to, so thank you :)

Surprisingly Handy: Tweezers in the Kitchen

What a sweet story. It's true we're a lot happier to please as kids. My best friend's house was always full of sugary cereal, chips, Spam, soda, milk, and ice cream. Anything else was hit-or-miss. I realize now how poor they were, but to me, their house was (almost literally) Candyland. And she loved all the "boring" healthy foods I grew up with, or at least health-inspired - the NutriGrain bars, the snack nut mixes, the carrots & dip, etc.

I first saw these stones years ago at a Pampered Chef party, and the rep said if we accidentally washed it with soap, it could be absorbed by baking a solid layer of something like Pillsbury biscuits (and then tossing them, of course). Dishwasher powder is a bit intense and stones are inexpensive, so I'd probably throw it out, but you could give the biscuits a try. Deanna's idea of cornmeal is also interesting, but might be trickier to avoid spilling in the oven.

As for the stains, I wouldn't worry about them. They're "seasoning," and common in stones. But the best failsafe to keep the stone looking nice is to only bake dry goods on it.
