I know there are a lot of people out there who are really picky with their wine and wine glasses and matching them up and such, but we just get our wine glasses at the Dollar Tree. They always have plain glasses, and sometimes you can find the different shapes and sizes, depending on the stock.

I was looking in a catalog the other day and saw wine glasses for $15.00 each and I just thought...what's the point? Spend less, nobody will ever know the difference, and use the rest of the money you saved to buy WINE! :)

I just want to learn that more people are becoming less snooty about wine. I never spend more than $5 on a bottle of wine...ever...and I never disappoint myself.

Good tip.

Hooray that I don't have to cook turkey for the first time this year in several years, thanks to us finally moving closer to family.

I'll gladly eat my mother in law's turkey any day just as long as all I have to do is show up and ask her if she needs help. :)

@tpup My dad repeated this rhyme my whole life, but for years I have been trying to remember the whole thing. Up until now, I could only remember the first sentence. I'm so glad you wrote it here because now I remember the rest!

What Are the Essentials of Good Table Manners?

Absolutely no cell phones at the table. Say please pass... if you need something, don't reach. Don't chew with your mouth open or talk with food in your mouth. No animals at the table or even in the room with the table if that can be helped. I don't even like animals in the kitchen. And for God's sake, don't sing or whistle or hum at the table. (This is one about which I have to constantly remind my eight year old son. I hope it sticks soon.) And keep your feet off the chair. And, and, and.

I think table manners are so important, even if you are just having a casual dinner with friends or your family. I was always raised that if you don't have good table manners, people will not invite you over to their homes. I think that's so true. There are people that I haven't invited over after one meal with them because eating with them was so unbearable. I might be old fashioned, but I think we could do with a bit more old fashioned good manners in this world.

Just soften it on a lower power.

Personally, I like my cheese cold.

You may cringe but I think I will make this with canned mushrooms. I'm not a big mushroom fan, so I can't typically tell the difference, as I usually pick them out anyway, only using the mushrooms for the flavor.

I don't care for fine corn flower in polenta. I like something a lot coarser. As far as a normal everyday use for it, though, I think the best two uses for cornmeal is making cornbread (or hushpuppies, which is just fried cornbread) and using it to dredge chicken, pork, or fish before frying. (Yes, I'm from the south)

I've seen this one on the stores a lot lately. They're BPA free and really cheap.

I prefer eating things with a fork that most people eat with their hands. Like pizza and french fries. I don't like eating with my hands if I can avoid it.

I'm not too proud to say that I use Hunts canned sauces sometimes. They're less than a buck.

I thought about getting the Soda Stream at one point, until I found out they they put Sucralose in all of their flavors, diet or not (except their Sparkling Naturals, which honestly doesn't appeal to me). Sucralose (Splenda) is just as bad for you as any other artificial sweetener. If they switch to plain old sugar, or Truvia for their diet options, I might spend the money.

So I thought this was so cute that I immediately gave it a try. The gumblobs (not drops yet until I cut it) are in the refrigerator right now. It was really easy except that it's so boring sitting there stirring a pot constantly for 25 minutes. I haven't done candy much in my life but the few times I have taught me that when they tell you to stir constantly, you do NOT stop stirring.

Also, take it seriously when it says a large pot. I used the pot I usually use when I make candy, but idk if it was the gelatin or what, but this stuff foamed and bubbled over in a bad way. I quickly transferred it to a larger pot and kept going, but the mess that I am going to have to clean up once my stove cools down enough to touch is a nightmare. Next time, bigger pot.

Candy your bacon first (cover in brown sugar, bake on foil lined pan until crispy). Then put between two slices of bread with lettuce and honey mustard. Hold the tomato (yuck). Heaven!

I've never salted my pasta water. I use a drizzle of olive oil (about a tsp) though to keep the pasta from sticking together. A lot of people salt the water because apparently it makes the water boil faster. If I want my water to boil faster, I just put a lid on it!
