some people on here are such snobs. This is a forum for sharing ideas not just showcasing homes that real people dont live in. I think your space is adorable and cozy. I love the fabric idea. Seems like a very cozy place to study.

Great place! warm and inviting. Good layout that seems to be very livable. Question- where is your sofa from?

I can't believe this is 2 bedrooms in 325 sq. feet! Great job and well thought out. I am in a 1 bedroom that's 425 with lots of weird angles so I know how hard it can be to deal with. Your space is very welcoming and does not look as small as it is at all.

Beautiful, warm home. One of my favorite house tours. Is the ceiling lighting fixture yours or did it come with your home? I'm looking for something to cover an ugly ceiling light in my bedroom, and something like that would be perfect! I love the kitties too, I always say they own the house, we just take care of it for them :)

This post cracked me up (b/c I thought maybe I was just crazy!). I don't necessarily redecorate, but I am always swapping things out- curtains, pillows, moving things around. My home is 450 sq. feet, so I am always trying to move or remove things to make our home more efficient for how we use it. I thought this just might be b/c our home is so small since I didn't really do that in any of my other homes which were all larger. I also used to move every few years, and that kept my decorating in check, but now that I have settled down, I feel more nested. Apt Therapy has helped me define my style too- I always knew what I liked, but I never really had a style, until I started looking at other homes, and realized the things I am attracted to. I have spent the last year trying to create it in my own home. I am guilty of repainting a wall after only a few months and I change the curtains in my living room about 4 times in the last year!

My husband and I are life long baseball fans, and we have a vintage baseball wall hanging in our home. We also have a few autographed pieces on a book shelf. I don't think I would take it beyond that, but it's a nice nod to our favorite team and adds to the personality of our home.

We replaced a small apartment sized gas stove in our rental. We found a gently used one for $50 on craigslist and it was worth every cent. When we moved in the stove was really old and you had to light it with a lighter. This was not going to work for me as I cook way too much. After speaking with the landlord, we agreed we would get the stove if he paid to get it put it. It made the kitchen a much nicer place to cook and it worked out for everyone. We got a nice stove, and my landlord didn't really have to deal with it.

I have used movers from Craigslist a few times. I never had any major problems. The key is to plan ahead and CONFIRM everything. Make sure to have a backup in case there is a no show. I have also found movers via Yelp and that worked out great too, but they were a bit more.

I enjoyed both articles and appreciated that other were feeling this way b/c I have always struggled with this. I love a clean happy home but sometimes feel like I have zero personal time since any down time I do have is spent cooking and cleaning. I also have an issue with asking for help since I feel like I am being a "mom" so instead I dont ask and then get mad that I do too much. I am lucky that my partner does help but I always end up doing more because I have higher standards as others mentioned.

@ Thorndale...Totally agree. Great job on your space. I remember growing up in the exact type room, brought me back to when I made it my own. I live in 400 square feet and am always impressed at good use of dual purpose.

This is probably one of my all time favorite house tours. I have bookmarked it for inspiration! I like how it looks lived in and functional without being messy but still cozy. Your furniture and textiles are to die for.

Lovely home. I live in the same amount of space (490) so I'm always interested in the smaller tours. I also have a bathroom with strange towel bars like that. I ended up using one of them as a "floating" magazine rack (I hang them off the rod!) I like your colors too. I am a fan of red touches everywhere- makes all the neutrals really work but is still fun.

Cute place. I had an apt with the same layout many years ago, and you did a way better job then I did!

Ikea makes an expandable white plastic dish rack that is fantastic! It can collapse to be very small or expand when you have lots of dishes. It angles down so the water drips back into the sink- no skanky moldy water sitting under the dishes. It is about $10 and I have only seen it in store, not online.

I have rented probably 10 different apartments, houses, duplexes in 4 different states. My only deal breaker is pretty simple.

Privacy

I will never again rent a place with shared walls or ceilings. I just moved from the city to the "burbs" and finally have a (very) small house with no shared walls. I have had my fill of nightmare neighbors- so bad once, I had to move. Now I can vacuum at 3am, play music, watch TV, yell at sports- and not have to worry about neighbors! The peace of mind of all that is worth every cent of my rent.

I can deal with no laundry- I now bring it to the "wash dry fold" it is a luxury I afford myself.

No closets, storage- all solvable problems- but peace and quiet you can not buy.

Thanks to everyone for the great ideas. I am going to try doublewongs idea (the second one), and I also like the table floating in the room too- I will be sure to post an update next month!

Swedie- it is a small closet. We plan on storing things in there we don't need all the time and will probably block it with a bookcase or TV.

Doublewong- that was exactly the layout I was thinking too. I like the idea of eating next to a bright window.

Rahskir- Yes, that carpet is hideous! We have 2 large area rugs to cover it. The walls will be "Wood Smoke" by Glidden with white trim throughout.

Rachel- how wide is your sofa? I worry that an 80 inch sofa (6 feet) will be too wide for a 9 foot room?
