Of course every child is different and just like some kids being naturally better at sport, some kids will approach things in a more creative way naturally. But I believe like playing sport, creativity can be learnt or encouraged. I see being creative is not about being able to draw, paint or make things (though these are definitely ways of encouraging creativity and often a way it manifests) it is exactly as some other posts have said, it's a way of thinking and problem solving. So just because your child doesn't care less about painting (northstory) doesn't mean they are not creative. Their creativity can be applied or manifest in many aspects of life such as cooking or financial planning. Hence why I believe encouraging creative thinking to be so important. I have to say, despite myself feeling ever-so-slightly funny when I read this Nursery Rhyme out loud to my children, I think it should be read as it is written. For the reasons "bomba' outlined above, I want to embrace this time when my children are yet to encounter the 'twisted attitudes our culture has towards sex' and aren't aware of the "complex meanings embedded in these kinds of slang". They hear me reading about a pussy cat and an owl in a green pea boat. They learn the traditional 'innocent' meanings of these words the way they were intended. This in turn, I believe, helps counter act the issues above. These words are only offensive if it is intended to be. Reading Aloud to Kids: The P Word in Children's Literature |

I think I'd have to agree. Some stunning photography but as a whole 'unbearably pretentious' (charlie26) pretty much sums it up. New Online Magazine: Kid-In |

Guys I don't think we have to get too philosophical about these things. If your kids will enjoy playing with an animal hospital and you want to make one, why not. This to me just looked like an alternative to a play kitchen or dolls house.(it really was just a cupbaord painted white with some crosses) Zarazame I really don't think your daughter's difficulty in finding yourself is down to you attempting to "nurture" her many interests (don't put that on yourself). finding a true passion is not something that comes to everyone. I bet if you ask anyone who is lucky enough to live out their passion, it was something that was always there, that they always wanted to do. That is why we call it a passion. If your lucky enough as a parent to be able to nurture that, then I say go ahead. If not, lets have some fun anyway. Embrace Your Child's Dreams Dos Family |

Enough with the bumper debate already. I think both sides have been heard. Let us all continue raising our own children the best we can and let others do the same. We can all check out some nice nurseries along the way. Before & After: A One Day Nursery Makeover Perfectly Imperfect |

I'm all for adapting something to meet a change tables needs. One thing that is often over looked by design conscious new mums-to-be however, is the height. Your post baby back really does benefit from a change table that is about 900mm high. Often dressers are that little bit too low. Look so much cuter though and so much more longevity. 4 DIY Changing Table Solutions |

Lovely room indeed. You can really tell this room has had an organic evolution. Nothing appears too planned but all fits in just perfectly. Eulalie's Playfully Bohemian Nursery Nursery Tour |

I agree with nellymom's suggestion also. Just make sure you go to a reputable company/framer. Like Ihoelle mentioned - these people have a vast amount of experience in dealing with precious items. Not sure where you are located but perhaps contact your local museum or historical society. They may use external framers/conservationist that may be able to help you. Call me old fashion but since when is it necessary for little boys and girls to have double beds? Seems a little indulgent to me. Yes - lovely room but a little too "big boy" for me too. Creating A Big Boy's Room That Will Endure |
