Knotty pine really does suck up light, I think black holes consist of knotty pine (and the knots also work really well as camou for spiders, I know from experience).

Lovely room with delightful colorful accents. Congratulations on all fronts!

P.S. @ernern Hilarious and snarky! Can we be friends?

I worked for a chef who sold food wholesale and she taught me to make blintzes. We served them with a sauce made from frozen raspberries and sugar. If I remember correctly we thawed the raspberries and cooked them with sugar until they cooked down a bit and then strained out the seeds. It was really fresh tasting and delicious.

The one thing I really remember is that she insisted that the batter be left undisturbed overnight so any bubbles could rise and dissipate.

Mmmm...blintzes.

Is the tahini raw or roasted? This sounds really good!

For those with low ceilings (like me!) perhaps one could cut a slit in the top pvc holder so that you could pull out the tool or push it into place when done. It would act kind of like a clip maybe.

The first apartment I lived in after I moved away from parent's home the neighbor complained constantly about me and my housemate banging our cabinets late at night. She would scream at us through the floor(waking us up), knock on our door late at night and scream at us(waking us up) and one time called the police.

Me and my housemate worked the breakfast shift at a restaurant so for us a late night was 10pm. When she came down to yell at us we were in our PJ's and all our lights were off.

Her balcony was right above my bedroom and early on Sunday mornings she would prepare aluminum cans for recycling by stomping on them on the balcony. Really annoying when I rarely had a chance to sleep in.

So glad I moved away from her. I think she was someone with some serious emotional issues.

My point: Like others have suggested you can try to be even more reasonable than you already are being by measuring the decibel levels in your home and visiting their apartment when they complain to see if you hear what they are hearing (difficult, by the way, because as soon as they complain you and yours will start tiptoeing so if you were being noisy you will have modified your behavior.)

But I think they might have some serious emotional problems if they need to text you rude messages and you should begin the process to move away.

I wish you and your family the best of luck and a happier home.

I love "the" penmanship! Oops!

Knowing AT this has probably been answered somewhere else but, the post mentions that the armoire was "musty". If that was an accurate description how did you solve that issue?

Also, my favorite side is with the Eiffel Tower (not just 'cause I want to go to Paris!) I love penmanship and the up and up and up!

Overall? Delightful transformation. Naysayers almost always are looking for attention.

I am glad that some folks have enjoyed communal living and that they have found that there are perks like sharing the burden of cleaning and upkeep. Although I never found it to be so I think that would have been lovely; and perhaps I would not now live alone if that had been the case.

After having lived with people and experienced a gamut of unpleasantness I am so happy to live alone. Deeply grateful.

I could list a host of complaints and bad experiences but, I wouldn't want to be labeled as self-absorbed.

Aside from some of the art I think this home is really quite lovely. I especially like the serenity of your outdoor space.

A few months ago AT had a post and one of the art pieces was of a life-like little girl under glass. I found that disturbing too.

I would not want to eat next to such a disturbing image as the one in this post or relax in my living room with a poster of skinheads or brush my teeth in front of a picture of a child with sores on his face.

That said, your house your right to put whatever you want on its walls. I think your response to the critics was gracious. And perhaps there is indeed a positive underlying meaning to the art and when you look at it that is what you see and not the unpleasant aesthetics of the subject matter.

Even though I do not always find them aesthetically pleasing I applaud AT for posting things that are thought-provoking and out of the ordinary. At the very least it got me signed up to post a comment for the first time!

@Blandwagon: Perhaps if you had ever really experienced the word you can not seem to say you would not make so free with it.
