Great post. I like that commenters are coming up with other solutions as well. This would be great in my parent's home where a) bending down to clean the walls and get in the nooks and crannies behind the shelves is not that easy for someone who is 70+ and b) the shelves are too large to fit in the sink for a quick wash. I always pace when I'm on the phone, but even doing menial tasks would take my attention away from the phone call, and I would feel rude. I agree with slackerjo. I had one in my old apartment, and it got used often when I had guests. It was easy to go to the fridge and bring out snacks or pop open another bottle of wine. I would stand on the kitchen side, and they would sit on the living room side. We often end ended up eating right at the bar. However, I never used the bar when I was alone at home. Staring at the kitchen is too boring and awkward! Are Bars Between Kitchen/Living Room Useful? Good Questions |

I made this map for some friends who were traveling to Oslo last summer. I haven't been to Oslo since 2008, so it might be outdated! Vigeland Park is my very favorite place in Oslo. Also, the Norwegian Resistance Museum (WWII) is really well done, and you learn quite a bit about Norwegian culture. Must-Sees for Trip to Oslo? Good Questions |
