Got 90! but I missed the roof, so I clearly have to go study the differences.

I've used to repair chips and flakes in things -- like a picture frame after a move, for instance. But this is inspiring!

One of the most interesting things I ever learned about art was from an exhibit at the Phillips some years ago. Mondrian and Calder were friends & shared views on art. Think about the light that sheds on both their work. It's also really interesting to look at early Mondrians and see how they evolved into the later compositions. Broadway Boogie Woogie is one of the greatest works ever -- it's all lines and blocks and yet it vibrates.

Sure the love of mid-century Modern is justified. But the passion for it is a fashion. The generation or two after the late Victorians hated their architecture and interiors, then the boomers loved it, then ... my grandmother told me once said seen "leg of mutton" (gigot) sleeves come around 3 separate times in her lifetime.

Loved the doll heads, and I had to laugh at the post about the ceramic hands being creepy. I'm left-handed and I collect left hands -- ceramic, wood, glass, etc. They're interesting. I don't know what a Precious Moments figure is, for which I suspect I should be grateful, but I'm with whoever said that Hummel figurines and beanie babies are the stuff of nightmares.

Yes, absolutely, see if they want it back - if they don't and you keep it, please be careful about how you clean it.

When you go to bed, do you want to feel cheerful or soothed? I am very much a quiet cool color/no fussy stuff or clutter in the bedroom person, although my public spaces are warm -- but cool & orderly doesn't have to mean spartan. Anyway, if you want to wake up to a sunny room that'll lead you in one direction, and if you want to fall asleep in a cool quiet space that's another direction. that's a good starting place for me.

I used to rent a mid-19th skinny rowhouse with an unlit narrow passage upstairs -- too dark for art, too narrow for books -- between the front bedroom (original part of the house) and the tiny back bedroom and bathroom (added later). I put up two rows of molding with Shaker pegs on either side and hung up my hat collection; wish I had a photo to share, they looked spectacular, Italian straw, feathers, etc.
