To whoever said they just throw their dog outside and don't have to walk it: dogs are social creatures and having proper, long, regular walks i.e. once a day at the least is about much more than going to the toilet. This is when your dog socialises, takes in new smells, marks territory and becomes used to strangers, children, cars and things. It's really important if you want a happy and well adjusted pet. God, at first i thought 'why is there a toilet in your kitchen?' I don't get American bathrooms. What on earth do you even put in all those cabinets? I'd be tempted to get rid of some of the cabinets personally to make it more light and airy. I also agree with what some one above said about the other stone in the first bathroom. Maybe changing that wold be a good option. Colors for Cabinets & Wall To Look Less Heavy? Good Questions |

Why is everyone in love with stupid grey. It's horrible. People will look back on this awful trend the same way we look back on shell suits and laugh at how twee it was that we all thought grey was the pinnacle of sophistication as they fly around in their space pods. I'm tired of the relentless barrage of grey posts: how to make grey feminine, how to use grey as a neutral, the cool masculinity of grey, how to fill a china cabinet with grey plates and the constant comments on every house tour, 'Oh where did you find that grey? It's perfect for my bed/living/washing/bath/dining/play/son's room.' Each to their own and all but this is like some kind of mass grey hysteria! A Gray Bachelor Pad Color Therapy |

This is vile. Porn is demeaning filth that has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with control over women. That is what I believe. That aside, the article itself is an appalling piece of writing, wrought with errors and with those photos it's difficult to believe this isn't some sort of bizarre parody of a 'relationship' article. It is inappropriate in the extreme and those who have had to explain porn to their children and siblings deserve an apology. The shameless trolling for hits is nothing short of desperate and if I may say... totally pointless. However this is a good opportunity to vent and that is welcome. I second the calls for a copy editor and add my voice to those who feel the quality of this blog has deteriorated rapidly while the actual amount of content has grown exponentially. It smacks somewhat of frantic flailing in the dark to hit 'publish post' button to repeat so much content and I sincerely hope you pull your socks up and return to the good ol' times or I sense a Regretsy style Apartment Therapy spin off in the future. To be honest I wouldn't display them at all. It doesn't really say 'welcome to my home' to have hate propaganda strung up all over the bathroom. Surely you can find something less offensive for the walls and if you really must display them, put them in the bedroom where your guests aren't going to see them. That's where my giant swastika lives anyway. Display of 50-Plus Chick Tracts? Good Questions |

PI, I disagree with you. This post is about selling a shallow and specific lifestyle, one in which your home and your possessions tell the world how grown up you are. It has very little to do with actually being grown up (self-sufficient, respectful etc.) and everything to do with the appearance of being grown up. The post begins with the author being impressed that the house is big and full of stuff and this sets the tone rather well. Having a full pantry is something that only some one with a pantry can do (excluding 90% of the worlds population in one fell swoop ), being able to fill a pantry with food is something that can only be done if you have money and access to said food. There are plenty of people around who can't access medicine and can't afford extra clean sheets and towels, who can't even afford any sheets or towels. These people aren't children, they're poor. When she's talking about people who get things done around the house, she is talking about wealth. If you're poor and are lucky enough to have a house it's likely that you don't have a dishwasher but if you somehow do and it breaks, you need both the authority to call them (which you don't usually have if you rent a place from an exploitative landlord) and the money to pay them, which plenty of adults do not. People who 'make do' do not usually do so because they are childish, lazy or indifferent but rather because they're unable to do anything else. Apartment Therapy is all about lifestyles and there's nothing wrong with a post on self-sufficiency and maturity in home design, however I take issue with the idea that the lifestyle outlined above should be held up as a template for all to aspire to and a measure of how grown up a person is. This seems a bit off to me. Having a 'grown up' home isn't about having matching linens and a full pantry in case you get sick. Surely it's about having respect for your environment and the people you share it with, knowing what it is you need and being comfortable enough in yourself to have these things and look after them because they mean something to you and not to the woman down the street who thinks she's in a homeless shelter if the glasses don't match. What about people who have better things to do? Are they less grown up somehow? Do You Live In A Grownup House? |

Yeah we really don't care about the flag. We're not a particularly patriotic bunch and when people are they tend to use their own flag: English, Scots, Welsh etc. I find our flag quite an unattractive thing myself and so wouldn't own furniture with it emblazoned on it but I think you'd struggle to find a British person who'd find it disrespectful.
