Meredith, your house looks amazing- you have such a great and thoughtful eye! Glad to see that my favorite red radiator is getting some nice attention! Also am a huge fan of the chevron rug as well- and the bar sign! Love your home and can not wait to see what you do next!

Hi @jtotheln- we actually haven't painted that room yet, but we color matched it pretty close in the guest room with Behr's Ivory Palace.

I think you are off to a great start by mixing your shapes and furniture styles, that is a great way to keep things fresh. You may want to look at the architectural details that you love, and see how you can accent them- i.e. tall ceilings- great chandelier that draws your eye up, hang window treatments just below the ceiling line and use a vertical stripe pattern, or hang art in a linear way. If you have great wall molding or door details you can hang a mirror opposite to repeat the view.
Finding great modern power pieces- that just command instant attention will make it feel more modern.
I have found Suzanne Kasler, although at first glance to be very traditional, she has many interesting ideas that would work well- she always does a neutral background, but has some interesting ideas on mixing shapes, and upholstery design in a modern way.
I would love to see more photos of your home, it sounds amazing.

@amyanne5072- that is a great suggestion about the mirror- we have tried a few different ideas- but you are right, that wall is screaming for a great piece of art! The previous owners had fabulous taste in art and had a huge painting on that wall, and it completely transformed the room, it was stunning. I think something large with a ton of color would be amazing- and probably one day we will find the right piece. In the meantime, I will try your swap and see how it goes- unfortunately the mantle faces a large grey wall with no windows, so the reflection may not be as interesting, but still worth a try. I think it does need a larger bolder focal point over the couch.
