Kiwi99 - I'm with you. In "my day" we just through a sheet over the dining room table and strung a flashlight up from the underside of the table. Boom. Fort.

Sometimes the reason is as simple as the parents are always the ones taking the pictures and getting a good (card worthy) picture of the whole family is difficult.

I bought mentos one time that came with a plastic tube for making a soda bomb. The tube had a hole toward the bottom where you could stick a pencil through to keep the mentos from going through the bottom as you lined them up. Once they're loaded up, you pull the pencil out and run. Bam!

The worst is when the opposite occurs: licensed characters made into books. These always have way too many words, the plot is forced, and generally, they just don't have the flow and charm of other books. I usually end up paraphrasing. Luckily, my little guy isn't old enough to know the difference yet!

Have to agree that pet gates don't get the job done if you're looking at a top of the stair gate as they don't bolt into the wall. Also, there's something to be said for the convenience of a gate with a door and not the cheap ones you have to press into place. The added $$ is worth the convenience, in my opinion.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your home. I hope you will be able to establish yourself in something permanent sooner rather than later.

I love the idea of swagging some fabric from the bottom of the top bunk so it becomes a luxurious little canopy for her. And also like the idea about using FLOR tiles to personalize the floor.

Not sure if the RV you're getting will have that same warddrobe as the one in picture, but you could try some decals/contact paper on the panels of the wardrobe door to pull in more color. Maybe do her name in decals? And you could even consider decorating the inside of the doors with pictures or color. Maybe a bulletin board in there that she can pin her own things up on.

Regarding the table, I see the benefit of leaving it in, so she has space to color, do projects, etc, but if you have another table in the family area, I would take it out and convert the space into a reading nook for her.

Good luck with your transition and as you move forward!

"Not to worry @Ajon. Everett does not sleep in his crib yet (reflux issues), and when he does, the banner goes. "

I'm so glad to read this. I have seen A LOT of cribs lately with pennant banners draped across the front, and every time I think, "That is not safe!" Hopefully all the other parents using these banners are planning to remove them once babe is in the crib, too.

The Picnic Game. The first person starts by saying "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing" then naming an item that starts with the letter A. The next person has to repeat that adding something with the letter B. You keep going around trying to remember and repeat everything already said and adding one thing for each letter of the alphabet as you go.

For preschoolers/non-readers, we play the "I'm thinkin of" game, which is just a variation on the alphabet game. You pick a category, animals for example. Each person has to name an animal and can't repeat an animal already named by someone else. Since the contestants don't read you just eliminate the "starts with ___" requirement. When you run out of stuff, pick a new category.

Ha ha. Yeah, nice idea, but if it doesn't play Diego, it's not going to do the job for long.
