Agreed. A scuzzy building reflects bad management, and that affects you directly when you need repairs or even upgrades. Also, a gross building is embarrassing to take visitors into, and that's their first impression of your place. A loft in a warehouse or something is a different story, perhaps, but I lived in a fairly grody building for 3 years and decided never, ever again. Nice Apartment, Nasty Building: Is it Worth It? |

Agreed. I made this mistake a couple apartments ago... space is not there to fill. A reading area, a desk area, or moving the bed seems ideal. I would put the bed between those two windows pointed out, with bookshelves on the newly empty wall, or the reading area there (on the left), away from the blast of the a/c. I'm deliriously happy to say that I just purchased the Portica *canopy* bed (in queen!) from Room and Board for only $410 off Boston Craigslist. Seller originally had it at 5, but she had to move soon and deducted the cost of a craiglist mover from the price! I almost lost the bed to other sellers, too!
