We rent as well and recently this week a did a little kitchen updating myself! Luckily we have good basics (large travertine tile floor, dark oak cabinets, black appliances, beautiful African tile counter tops, and a nice light fixture). I added a 3x5 natural fiber rug, replaced the dingy curtains with 2" dark "wood" blinds, hung up a photo in a large black frame and installed a paper towel holder under a cabinet. The space looks so much more put together and warm!

@GG-loves-apartments thanks, I guess you're right, the showering issue is the biggest thing for me so I gotta find some way to make that work.

i just moved to a victorian apartment with a claw foot tub and i thought it would be so whimsical and fun to have, but i hate it! it's taken me forever to install the shower curtain holder and figure out a way to attach the shower head. i've been taking one handed, squatting showers for the past week. http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/135095546_kCn17HdB_c.jpg and it's a gross pink color

Haha, I wish I had some advice for you! My boyfriend and I first moved into a 1 bedroom also and he had a phantom fireworks poster he would not.give.up. I would say do everything in your power to keep it in a box, but actually that magazine isn't THAT bad...

Pretty much what everyone has already said, I've seen a lot of similar ads for my area. A good rule of thumb (esp when dealing with Craigslist) if it sounds to good to be true, IT IS!

i have a sectional in that exact shape, but dark brown. i'm a little stuck on how to style it, here's a picture:

i don't have any more recent photos, but since this was taken there is now wood floor, a patterned Moroccan style rug, and i've taken the art down, but i would like something else on that wall. would a mirror work? and the curtains are dark navy, should i go for a different color, these seem to darken the room quite a bit. thanks!
