I mostly use this for popping popcorn in a popcorn kettle; it doesn't leave an aftertaste on the popcorn and therefore is perfect for that.

For those of you keen on my enchiladas, the recipe is here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/2333.
I've made it a few times and it's very good. But um, all the fiber has an effect.

Hummus is here: http://www.bakespace.com/recipes/detail/Roasted-Jalapeno-Hummus/32313/

And short rib sauce is here: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/03/short-ribs-in-tomato-sauce/.

The last two recipes are untried but I know they will be faboosh.

Sweet potato and black bean enchiladas, and pasta with short rib tomato sauce. I think some roasted jalapeno hummus too.

Williams-Sonoma does not ship in Canada, but they do have stores in Canada you might visit for this product. I've never seen it in W-S in Canada, though, and I go often.

I think if you had the time and inclination, canning your own homemade ketchup might go over better; there is nothing like the taste of homemade ketchup and since tomatoes are in season this should be relatively easy, and certainly easier than finding places that will ship to Canada online. Just a thought. I like this recipe:" http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Homemade-Ketchup-109037

Good Questions

Star anise. I bought it YEARS ago. It's still fresh, and periodically I find some recipe to use it in.

I also have a back of black mustard seeds I bought just to feel exotic. They still sit.

My husband bought a bunch of stupid spice mixes we never used.

Spice rubs. I have put the ban on all spice blends in our house, they never get used and sit in the cupboard and stare at me. Maddening.

I also made a whopping batch of pesto that sits in my freezer still. We do periodically use it, but not enough to justify the bender I went on.

I envy anybody who has yet to try ground cherries; you are in for a real treat! Tried huckleberry (jam) for the first time this season, amazing. Also, I love saskatoon berries but those are hard to find.

Veggies; leaf broccoli, some of the heirloom onion varieties, fava beans (new to me this year), and tomatillos have all become favourites.

I made this tonight-very good, except the blanching and shelling took WAY longer than you describe it. those little suckers are hard to shell.

well, Canada isn't like that Rachelboise. our Mexican sections generally consist of taco shells and canned mango salsa. you can't even get corn tortillas in the average Canadian grocery store.

I hate recipes like this. I'm sure it's lovely, but as if they carry arbol and chipotle mora chiles at your average grocery store. hell, it's hard enough finding tomatillos. This is a useless recipe to your average shopper, much as I like tomatillo salsa. Rick Bayless has far more accessible recipes just using jalapenos which every store has.
