It's just like when I get something new for the house and someone complements
us on it. I love it when I can say that I got it at Ikea or Target, or even better,
second hand on Craigslist. Creating my personal space in a manner that I can
afford is extremely satisfying.

My feeling is the design world needs to be turned on it's ear.
I'm all for making interesting design available to the masses. It may inspire those who have felt hindered or those who have been unchallenged to step into creative thinking and living. Something so simple can have profound affects on us all.

Maybe we would stop accepting the onslaught of strip mall
architecture, or mini-mansions, or lack of funding for the arts in our children's schools. When you start to care about your
surroundings, there are some obvious disharmonies.

Of course this is just one way of looking at it.

Dark beams would really make a statement. And yes, I would paint the entire fireplace white. The floor color doesn't pop the wall color or visa-versa. I think dark floors would be really cool. You could lighten things up with a mix of lighter wood accent furniture and a light neutral (cream, white, or coir) rug. Thanks for sharing your beautiful room!!

Re. those having issues with their cat's sudden choice to urinate oustde of the box***

I've had so many cat's in my nine lives, and this issue is THE most frustrating. When one of our cat's suddenly decided to urinate in new locations: next to the litter box, on curtains, on the rug, even right in front of me, it was like Maggie was saying, you suck, and I'll f***-ing pee where I want to!

The truth turned out that she had a bladder condition and was trying to get my attention because she felt sick. $2,000 later, because it wasn't quite that simple, she stopped the behavior. The moral of the story is listen to your cat's cue's and talk to your vet, because there may be something they can help with. Even a good cat
therapist (and I'm totally serious that they can help in the worst case scenario) don't give up on your cat!!

I really do think you put a lot of great design thought into the
space and I think your colors and fabrics are lovely, but I do have to admit to immediately thinking this was a "hospital" space.

I think the one way around it would be to take down the gray
drapes and go for something a little earthier. I love the texture choices in your fabrics and that gorgeous blue print could really lend it self to a yellow, meaning like a bamboo or jute shade over the window. It might look a bit warmer.
