I usually get cilantro in a transparent plastic bag.. Just try to make a air filled balloon with cilantro inside, like may be twist the plastic bag to create a baloon and then fold the twisted part under the bag, and leave it on the refrigerator shelf as is.. Like a balloon. My cilantro stays fresh like this for upto 10 + days, an occassional wilted leaf may need to be removed. But most of it stays fresh.

^ what Cornish Clairey says. Also you can make green chutney with cilantro, thai/jalepeno chilli, lemon juice, salt and cumin powder and then freeze in ice cube trays and put them in a ziplock. It can be added to some gravies/future salsas or defrost to use as green chutney.

I buy at an Indian grocery store, where unfortunately everything is in bulk. So i have some stuff in a bottle on shlf and rest of the packet is stored in a box in the only closet available for storage. So atleast it looks neater. Though the bigger the house n storage gets, more the storage problems. So am rather happy with the lack of closet space..

Surprising, but it does make a good combination. I tried it recently with some local beer. Different but good.

Lovely space, and good contractor to suggest such an expansion!! Could you reveal the clay spoon holder source, I have 2 wooden carved spoons I would like to display, but have always found only boxes to hold them. This seems like good display option..thank you..

I have awaken to the pressure cooker going off for years!! Plus i hear the water boil for my morning tea. Also something called a milk cooker, very common in southern Indian houses, lets out a high pitched whistle. I have heard that a lot. I usually notice smells when my husband cooks, when I am there, I think my nose becomes insensitive to them. Sound of mustard seeds popping in hot oil:)

A relaxed host helps .. also its good if the host is eating with the guests. I went to a party recently that involved meeting the hosts for the first time, and all I said to them was a hello and than for inviting us.. I have started to realise that simpler but ample food is more important that a 5 course plated meal.

My parents were happy to see me in a house, where I knew what was where.. As a kid they always used to keep telling me,to pick up things, and now they just say ' this is what we meant when we said.. You'll know when you have a house of your own". But they enjoyed staying with me, and I enjoyed cooking for them and taking them around. Esp now that dads no more, mom keeps recollecting the time she stayed with us and what dad thought about it...:)

I live ina a big city with expensive hotels, so I do get a lot of out of town guests and I understand if they want to save some money on stay.. Because I have also done that on occassions. But as long as the stay doesnt interfere with my routine, I dont mind hosting. I have regretted some people, but now I know and find a way to refuse. Saying NO is a very important life lesson to learn. It can save many headaches...

I use left over lime halves, dip it in salt, and then rub over the copper, while sqeezing whatever juice is left over... Shines the copper, in my copper bottom cookware, pretty well.

Like Phoxx says, chaat recipes use black salt. You could also try them in the oven roasted chickpeas recipes that was on this site sometime ago. May be on popcorn. It does have a tangy taste, so you may want to start with less and add as per liking.

I have recently started eating Muesli, and have acquired a taste for it. I usually eat low sugar cereals, so this is a good option for me, over granola.
