I know it's the spherical bulbs you were interested in, but if you love the bare-bulb look and are feeling especially guilty about the energy expenditure, you might consider this designer CFL: http://plumen.com/

I have a Plumen light bulb in a cage lamp and absolutely love it!

the boyfriend found a beautiful chromed rolling clothing rack mostly next to the dumpster (had to dumpster dive for a piece of it.) My brother is freegan, and a dumpster diver, and I've realized the garbage is a magical treasure chest from some of his finds. That said, I draw the line at most clothing/shoes/upholstered furniture. Not only due to fleas and bedbugs, but as a result of a craigslist deal gone horribly wrong, I've found that you don't always notice the cat pee smell until you bring an item into a clean, enclosed environment. Disgusting.

Lateral Paper drawers have saved my life. and book shelves full of labelled file boxes. I'm still trying to perfect the aesthetic of it. I'm not there yet.

I have a separate book shelf for my how-to books, binders and teaching materials than from my fiction/non-fiction reading, and a set of apothecary drawers full of specific book binding tools: awls in one drawer, blades in another, spools, beeswax, bone folders, etc...

I also created a false half wall between two more book cases of art supplies where I can stack large paper pads, canvases and frames against the wall where they are kind of hidden, creating less visual clutter.

having the kind of room mate who cherishes her cleaning supplies enough to have a show and tell used to motivate me (actually my current room mate labeled the pantry goods)

Jokes aside, the fact that my room is not only my sanctuary, but my art studio motivates me. If I can't be at peace, be inspired and be productive, something's got to get cleaned!
