Yeah, all great places, but this is kind of an "all over KC list." I grew up in Midtown Kansas City, but have lived in Waldo for about ten years. I have do have a few neighborhood reccomendations: Best hardware store is def Euston's Waldo Hardware on 75th - family owned, someone is always ready to help you find what you need as soon as you walk in the door, and the kids that work the register are all nice. Smokestack BBQ is at 89th & Wornall - tastes just as good as Jack Stack (it's the same family recipes) just not as "pretty", and it's right down the street from me! Needham Floral at Gregory & Oak is a fantastic florist, and Dan Needham is a super nice guy, and I use them for both personal and business. A few other favs include Papu's Cafe - awesome gyro's out of a Shell station; Waldo pizza is great, especially with kids, and they have a fantastic beer selection; Taj Mahal has delicious Indian food; All of the 63rd Street shops are great - Reading Reptile, Brookside Toy & Science, the Dime Store. Really, I could go on and on. I love my neighborhood!

Yay! I love this post. I am remodeling my attic into a master suite right now. Won't be quite as rustic as these, though. Plenty of insulation, drywall and air conditioning. Cuz it does get hot in an attic.

I'm not sure about other engineered stone surfaces, but I believe Silestone is just as heat resistant as granite. I've had Blanco Maple Silestone countertops in my kitchen for over two years and I love them! They are gorgeous, super low maintenance and very durable. I have had a couple of small stains, but my installer advised me to clean them with a bit of nail polish remover on a cotton pad. Works like a dream!
