This is a minor adjustment if you have carpentry skills or family/friends who do. You could seal off the bedroom with sheet rock. Add an enclosed portico right outside the kitchen (if you live in the North) so that you could access from the public space of the house. If you live in the South or it doesn't rain a lot where you live, then you may just make a covered patio. That makes so much more sense than what you have. And I don't know what your storage needs are, but that is a great space for bikes, luggage, sports equip, lawn furniture, etc or the outdoor entertainment room that you mention. You are lucky to have this space but I agree it is awkward as configured now.

I can't pay attention to the project because the kid is so darn fun. I bet she's a big ol' help too dad.

OH that orange bucket idea! I use styrofoam plates on smaller plates but larger ones don't work as well for me. So styrofoam peanuts are a godsend.

So glad this situation is working out for all. I really feel for people with pet dander allergies. I love my 4 cats. However, there is a possibility that a move is in my future and I will not be able to take them all. Already feeling it.

Two reasons that mint won't grow: inadequate light and/or water. It loves morning light and a slow moisture drip. Personally, I love it and let it do whatever it wants as long as it wants.

Go growgirl! And PeteG, you said it. I removed the television from the social area of the house almost 20 years ago. TVs belong in a TV room and not centered in the family area of the home. IF you have a tv at all.

I think any of them would work but 2 and 4 are my choices.
