5. Get it in writing. Even if you verbally agree with your landlord on something, or even by email - find out what the "official" way to notify is, and do it! We got burnt by this when we were renting in Vancouver - we notified that we would no be renewing our lease on the last day we possibly could, our landlord was an ass and wanted to keep our security deposit, but we couldn't get her in front of whatever the rental office was called because we'd notified by email and not letter.

A trick I find useful is to buy less and more often. I can't come up with a meal plan for the whole week, and stick to it. So what I do is buy for 2 or 3 days, which makes it easier to stick to the plan, and if something unexpected comes up food won't go bad and you can make it the following day.

I'd say that the tratment style should coordinate, but no more than that. If you're going fo blinds, or roman, or curtains or whatever, do the same for both spaces. Then go crazy with materials, patterns or colors.

Not all Ikea sofas come in pieces - as I learned the hard way when I bought one and yes, it fit through the elevetor, it just didn't fit through the corner between corridor and my apartment door.

Getting sofas in through the windows seems to be a European thing (in Spain at least it's normal), and in the US they just won't bother.

This is the main reason why I'm sticking with my old sofa till it falls apart - I dread finding a really great sofa, possibly having it custom made and then not fit. And if a corner or big sofa doesn't fit (which I don't think it will) then I'd rather not change what I currently have, because the alternative of 2 small sofas will just be disappointing.

Something that helped me was to find a morning activity that you _enjoy_ for which you *must* wake up early for and then keep it up. At the beginning, set an alarm at night for your bedtime - otherwise after a couple of days, no matter how much you love your chosen activity you will just be too tired to do it.

- Chew with your mouth closed
- Don't start eating till everyone has been served (if it's a sit down thing)
- If a napkin is provided, use it regularly
- Don't get up till everyone is done eating

Get a cheap colorful rug (think Ikea style) so that you only have to worry about keeping it clean "enough", and when it starts to look grotty just throw it out and get a new one.
