@ LSIMM, YUP! We don't have kids, but 4 pitbulls and a boder collie.
Sofa- Microfiber, where fur gets INTO the tight weave and never leaves. Washing doesn't work. One gets mad and pees, and while covers are in the wash, the others eat the foam.
coffee table- round with a semi circle chewed out on the side
lamp from my trip to Morocco, smashed
rugs- chewed, peed on, victim of tug of war
I ONLY shop craig's list! But I got some nice West Elm stuff and am getting a burgundy chesterfield sofa for 100 bucks!

I have FOUR pitbulls and a Border Collie /Chow mix. Microfiber is NOT the way to go! Microfiber is a very tightly woven material that, when the fur weaves itself in, it's hard to get out. It's also stinky! We are going with leather next! Never never never have carpet in a house with pets! You'll never get the fur up. I steam clean the carpet in the bedroom once a month and I end up with about a gallon of funny looking fur.

Here's the deal with marriage. It's 50/50, but that's the average. Sometimes it's 70/30 or 90/10, Between different issues, it can go either way. Sometimes it's 90 in my favor, and others the 10. Hubby washes the dishes and I clean the rest of the kitchen. AND I am a dog rescuer, so we have five dogs at the moment and he gets up extra early to walk them so I can sleep in.

Absolutely no big gross lazy boy recliner. We have some pretty ugly stuff that my husbands father made and I wouldn't trade it for all the designer furniture in the world.

Longer haired dogs are easier to clean up after. The fur forms nice dust bunnies you can easily suck up with a vacuum cleaner. The three pit bulls in my house have short coarse hair that falls and stays on the floor and weaves itself into microfiber sofa. I will never buy upholstery again! All leather from here on out, and I have hardwood floor throughout the house.

We converted our dining room into a study, and put the pedestal dining table and chairs on the front porch. We realized that we ate at the table exactly twice in the three years, but used the desk stuck in the corner of the bedroom a lot. As we already had all our books in the "dining room," the desk was really in the wrong room.

Never never never do the dishes before bed. The day is just too damned long to do one more chore!
I make a list of what I have to do the next day. When I wake up in the morning, I have forgotten what I'm supposed to do.

John Waters says, "if you go hoe with someone, and they don't have books, don't fu*k them." that being said, when I met my husband I let him borrow my copy of "Drinking Smoking and Screwing." I had to get it back SOMEHOW, and we are married ten years. We have TONS of books together!

Those people who ask guests to take off shoes...don't like guests. I stay home when I know those are the rules. Too fussy, too controlling. I am also afraid to sit on their furniture.

In Texas, we had over thirty days of 100+ degree weather this year WITH 97% humidity. We are finally in the 80's and are able to open up windows without melting. Fall cleaning is a must after being cooped up since May.

We have a "barrel" table made from an old barrel and plywood. My husband's father made it and he is no longer with us. It is hideous and will never be banished to any unsafe location. We took it when we had to evacuate for a hurricane! And people are so negative! If one doesn't like a rug or bookshelves then do not put it in the house!
