Is this a joke? Did someone hack apartment therapy? I think this post finally clinches it. Apartment therapy is over.

Please dont rip this out and create another boring neutral characterless bathroom. It is AWESOME and fits in perfectly with a 1950s house. Dont fight it, roll with it. Its incredible!!!

I understand your problem. I also live in Aberdeen now, and am a former New Yorker so I get small spaces. The first thing you need to do is pull down that wallpaper, and paint all of the walls an airy color. White it nice but a very icy blue might work? B&Q carries a color called "Grecian Spa" which is a beautiful minty relaxing shade.
I would try checking in the charity shops for a wardrobe that holds more. Paint it white so it takes up less visual space.
If you can afford a new bed, I would try and get the kind that you can store things under the mattress. That would basically solve the problem of needing a second wardrobe.
The shelves above your bed are good. I would add as many more of them as you can fit. You could also cover them with doors or little curtains the same color as your walls, again hiding the clutter and taking up less visual space.
Get rid of that dark bedding as well!
Basically the answer to your question is use your vertical space and make it brighter!!!!!
Good luck! x

the after photo looks cheap. I like the single color vases in the before picture. If they had simply been placed back in the same position after those walls were painted, and given the branches, they would have been fab. Further, painting those branches white, coming out of the white vases, would have been fab. Oh well.

As a Female living in New York City, I can tell you right now that regardless of how nice your space is, if it did not have a bath tub, I would NOT be buying. New York women need a bath tub. If not to soak after a long hard day of running around the city in heels, then simply for the bathing space require when shaving our legs, dying our hair, etc. We just need a tub.

ELOISE AT THE PLAZA HELLLLLOOOOO! Take a look at what they have done there. Black and white floors, pink walls, im sure if you added polka dots in the right way it would look fabulous as well. Nothing says little girl more than Eloise at the Plaza.

Get rid of that dark brown bath mat and replace it with a white one. They are brilliant and stay bright white simply by adding a cap of bleach when you wash them. Next I would paint the vanity under the sink. I would choose white, or a soft light blue. If possible, change the door pull to something a bit nicer. Anthropologie and ebay are both great options for this. Get yourself a glass or metal hand soap dispenser and keep only one towel on the hand rail on the shower door. A few small light pictures on the wall of leaves or beaches etc would be a nice relaxing touch. Good luck!

What about painting the molding black and leaving the walls the color they are? The result would be something fresh, crisp, classic, and clean. It would give you the updates you are after without locking you into any color schemes. I adore your style, and your seemingly care-free selection of colors that all work so well together. I would hate to see you worried about "does this go with that" or "Does that clash with our walls."

I think I am the only person who isn't in love with duct tape and its uses. I find it unattractive, even in various colors, and it would be expensive to do a rug like this. Not to mention the eventual clean up. Yuck.
