Nothing is more annoying than reading someone's spelling and grammar corrections to a post or fellow commenter.

Get a life, people. This is Apartment Therapy, not Design, Grammar, and Punctuation.

Btw, do you object my usage of the Oxford comma? Look it up. Big grammatical controversy over it.

These comments blow my mind.

My husband and I love to "judge" the cards and letters we get (most expensive photo shoot, cheesiest, best looking, etc..), which I know is pretty terrible. However, I love to send and receive cards because , in the end, the message we are sharing is that "we thought enough of you to send you a card the old fashioned way" the postal service.

We know we are likely being judged when our photos are on the card with our kids, but whatever!

I wave hello to everyone I recognize as a neighbor whenever I am driving or walking my dog , and usually get a wave or hello back. It's a simple, non-commital friendly gesture, that has led to a few casual friendships. It's almost always reciprocated, and often with a smile.
I don't even know most of their names, but I like them just the way I know them!

Oh, and if they don't wave back, I just assume "they didn't see me" - of course!

My daughter's room is a pale blue (light french grey - Behr). Blue has always been her favorite color.

I never gave painting her room blue a second thought. Why should pink for a boy be any different?

Love this post, and every single comment written. If only more people in our country would think and shop this way. People would save thousands of dollars (that they are likely borrowing at an awful interest rate) furnishing and decorating their homes.

This is why I love apartment therapy!

Beuatiful home, tastefully and thoughtfully put together. It gives off a clean, youthful vibe.

But please, AT, these MCM house tours are all starting to look the same to me. Eames furniture piece, some etsy acquired accessories, etc.. It's a flawelss, cheerful home, for sure, but it's like SO many other MCM homes previously featured.

This type of house tour is becoming a bit like the "Keep Calm, Carry On" print. We've all seen before, many times.

It's refreshing to see an inexpensive, simply executed makeover, not someone trying to copy the style from pages of a magazine. Simple, yet transformed!

This is the kind of house tour where I think, "I would love to hang out with this people for a day."

Would I want to live with this much stuff ? No. Do I love to look at house tours like this? Yes!!

ANR -
I agree, 100%! Great quality, great messages, great price. The artist also included a couple of little freebies with my order of just 1 (under $20) print...a few of her postcards, stickers and other little items - at no charge. Who does that nowadays?!

I agree with the message of your post, but the before photo ('from this') and the after photo('to this') are from two separate homes that they own(ed). I read their blog once in a while, and the before is from their first home, the after is their current home.

List making is often a form of procrastination. Maybe instead of thinking about what to put on your list, then writing your list, or possibly making a SECOND list, why not just get up and do/ fix/ buy something that would otherwise be on your list?

yes..When my kids were tiny and I was surrounded by primary colored plastic toys (along with all of the noise and chaos that comes with very small children) I craved the serenity of a peaceful, visually quiet monchromatic home. I think I actually found some solace in my muted home. Now that they are older (and our home is quieter and no longer littered with plastic toys), I have found that I like bringing more of my own bold color choices into our home, and I really enjoy the color!

Is there a corrolation between the amount of visual and audio 'noise' some of us can handle?

I agree with the previous comments. Please stop overselling your posts with these embellished titles. It's a disppointment everytime.

They may be on HGTV, but they have stayed true to their playful, very creative aesthetic. Thankfully there is NOTHING "Designed to Sell" about this HGTV show. Love the Novogratz.

Hope this is a sign HGTV is moving away from all of that unfortunate "formula" decorating that pollutes that channel.

Looks good, but best of all it was kept out of a landfill. Kudos to every single AT post like this one that encouragres a little bit of vision and elbow grease. A dresser like this beats anything at Ikea, Target, CB2, West Elm, Pottery Barn, etc..every single time. Well done!

Team "Paint"...it's (almost) instant gratification to breathe new life into a thrift store find with a fresh coat of paint. Just painted a dingy Goodwill side table Ben. Moore's "peony" and it's looks terrific. Cheap and cheerful is the way to go.
