My shower caddy is looking awful. I was going to sand and spray paint it, but maybe this will work. Or at least something to consider after I paint it. Any suggestions? Quick Tip: Easy Metal Furniture Maintenance Martha Stewart |

Kathryn1123 - maybe his advice is right, but it does not sound like a good idea to me. Just cleaning with bleach makes me feel ill, I can't imagine letting it hang around in my mouth. Tips & Tricks: Using Baking Soda Around the Home |

Instead of playing, let your kids get more of doing. I feel children are far more capable that they are given credit for being. This depends on how young they are, but I was a pro at washing dishes and setting the table before age five. I was baking and cooking full meals before age 10. My parents weren't the best parents by any means, but their expectations of me being able to do everything they could straight out of the womb has paid off for me as an adult. I've had mushrooms called chicken of the forest at a restaurant once and their texture was similar to chicken, but not the flavor. Of course, I haven't eaten chicken in over 15 years, so my judgement may be off. Unusual Ingredient: The Fried Chicken Mushroom |

The wire I buy from the hardware store is wound up and sort of like a slinky if you remove it all at once from the container. Maybe that is another option. Make A Bird Feeder From An Old Children's Toy |

I was just trying to explain this to my dad two days ago. I still have stuff in gift bags from last christmas that I haven't figured out what to do with. I was trying to tell him things I need, but he didn't think they sounded like things you give as gifts. I like the tickets and lessons idea that some folks have posted and I think those suggestions will go over well. How To Guide Family Towards 'Less Is More' Gift Giving? Good Question |

Well said. I always feel like I am such a giver of guilt trips, but you said it with sweet, gentle words. Thinking about all that went into food getting on my plate overwhelms me and whenever I share my feelings it gets awkward. On Making an Effort to Be Thankful for Your Food |

I say "whatever" to lard making the best crusts. When my grandma moved back to MN she got to eat my pies and always loved them. After a few years she was telling her garden club how my pie crusts were the best she ever had. Finally she asked if she could watch how I made them to learn my secrets. She nearly hit the floor when I pulled the butter out of the fridge. She thought for sure I was using lard and never put together that I wouldn't since I was vegetarian. She cracked me up. My dad still lives in the farmhouse my great-great grandpa built back in 1879 on our homestead in MN. He moved out for about 4 years after his high school graduation and then moved back in when his parents decided to experience California. That was the first time my grandpa ever moved. He was about 50. Needless to say that house is home to many of my relatives, which my step-mom hasn't figured out yet. Have Your Parents Moved? |

I found that lemon juice works for me. I just pour it on my hands and let it sit on them until the burn goes away; usually just a minute or two. I've used the lemon juice on my face too by soaking a paper towel with it and then resting it on my face (be careful not to get it in your eyes). Hot Pepper Hands: An Easy Way to Stop the Burn |

I am neither warm or cool colored and so I don't understand how one could be either one or the other. In the spirit of the post I will just accept that one can in fact be one or the other and say I am neither/both because I require contrast, as in, I feel rooms should be balanced with both cool and warm colors. At first I agreed with Spectrogram that simplistic labels are stupid until I realized I used the word balance in my response to warm and cool colors and remembered that I am a Libra. I hate when this sort of thing happens. Color Quiz! Are You Warm or Cool Colored? The Color Cure |

I can't remember exactly how it happened, but I have a small cast iron skillet with some formerly gooey food seriously burned onto it. I've tried the foil in a ball and I've tried it on the highest heat setting in the oven, but nothing will get that crap off of it. It has been on there for about five years. I keep it because I know there has to be a way to get that stuff off and I just don't know it yet. I might try the fire as Karen mentioned. I don't want to have what happened to Michelle dad's pan to happen to mine though. Anyone else have more advice? Or Karen do you have more specific instructions?
