The joy of Scandinavian design is that you don't have to choose between the clean lines of minimalism and the warm, inviting atmosphere of 'cozy'.

Minimal vs. Cozy: Which is More \"You\"?

On the indication of your style indicated by those chairs (which I love) I guess you'd go for something modern/simple. A couple of ideas:

You could do a glass brick wall. I *love* these two: http://livinais.com/decorative-bricks-for-modern-interior/interior-design-with-glass-bricks/ and http://www.newyorkglassblock.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/slider1.jpg

This picture inspired me to think that maybe you could do an exposed brick style thing with even bigger windows: http://livinais.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/architect-design-modern-gothic-astley-castle.jpg

You could restructure so it was something more like this with open holes: http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/707581/707581,1307716926,1/stock-photo-modern-empty-interior-with-red-wall-and-window-with-glass-bricks-78960490.jpg if you lit it from the top then you'd be able to create intimate lighting in the evening.

I also think you should consider when you're going to be using that table. Is it going to be used for breakfast/sunday afternoon reading the papers? or mostly dinner? If dinner, I'd almost be inclined to fill it in, embrace the lack of light, and make it a bit more intimate. One of my favorite places to eat is a place called Den Gyldene Freden in Stockholm - there are tables in the cellars which are just so cozy. This picture doesn't give a sense of atmosphere, but you'll see the set up at least: http://www.pda-europe.com/stockholm/images/denglydenefrede_3.jpg

Heroes, the West Wing, Scandal, Borgen, the Killing, Misfits, the Thick of It. I could go on... my capacity to get addicted to TV shows is unhealthy, to say the least.

The building is beautiful, and the lobby is phenomenal, but I'm not so sure about the apartments themselves. They look a bit inauthentic for some reason... can't quite put my finger on what it is that gives that vibe.

I'm not sure it's the red that's making the room seem dark. The red itself seems quite vibrant and goes well with the yellow. If anything, it's the weird cream color that's out of place. It makes the space seem a little dingy... I'd paint that bright white (notice how the white in the door frame really sets off the red). It'll lighten the whole space, and also highlight the beautiful wood...

Quick question: why on earth would anyone be offended to see their flag used in this way...?

As far as I can see, there's no animosity behind the thing whatsoever. The point with flag burning is that it's used as a symbolic and aggressive gesture. The burning of the flag itself doesn't actually matter... no one would care if it were accidental (or at least I hope they wouldn't). It's like someone giving you the finger - it'd be meaningless if it weren't for the message behind it. With this, the message is 'the Union Jack is cool and I want it in my home.' Even better that it's in association with Man's Best Friend.

Awesome, I say.

I've visited apartment therapy almost daily for months and, until I saw this post, have never felt compelled to register. This - to me - is what a home should be like. It's a perfectly thought out and beautiful living space that seems to have been designed around maximizing that joys that a home can offer to life. Congratulations! It looks like the five years was worth it...
