Id make more use of the high ceilings by adding shelves say from 5.5 ft up the wall to the ceiling. This way you can move all the books and other nick nacks up on the shelves. In sort its a great space but it looks cluttered by all the books and stuff. Hang your art lower on the wall under the shelves.This will allow you to get rid of the book shelf in the corner and the book case in the corner near the kitchen. This will open up the space so you can move those larger chairs in to corners. Get rid of the coat tree and install hooks to hang coats on. I don't mind the curtain and I think it serves a legit function. I would however get a less bulky looking rod. Think something clean and minimal like a cable wire. Good luck! its a rental....keep it simple! to be honest they are not horrid in any way. a nice area rug or some simple stenciling in a small area could make a big impact for minimal bucks. Should I Paint or Stain My Hardwood Floor? Good Questions |

i hate that we live in a culture where "name brand" is the end all be all. having worked in the fashion industry i can tell you most of those "name brand" purses are very overpriced for there poor construction and being manufactured in china. to the point if you like it buy it. style in one thing designer is another and the two need not go hand-in-hand! the chemicals are a problem... ive heard of folks sanding the boards down, but im not sure that is a really going to get rid of the chemicals. pallets are made from cheap wood...have you ever stained a cheap wood? if you have you might have noticed that stain seeps into the wood pretty deep as such i imagine the chemicals do as well as they are met to destroy wood burrowing bugs... food for thought. i would do a a plain painted backsplash, but as you have so much white i would be sure to do a nice bright color like: benjamin moore neon green 2032-10 or tawny day lilly 2012-10 What Are Easy To Clean Backsplash Options? Good Questions |
