Lovely home. Can you tell me where you got the wrought iron garden benches? I love them.

I love it. I am a stager/designer. I have used Anaglyptic paper from time to time. As mentioned above, it is meant to be painted over. It is forgiving, easy to put up(with the help of heavy duty wallpaper paste) and covers a multitude of sins. I did my Kitchen ceiling with the pattern that looks like tin tiles. Used BM Metalic paint to give it the metal finish. It looks great. Just did a small"copper" tile wall in a clients Kitchen. It has never failed to impress.

Once I took my car into the garage for repairs. When the mechanic opened the hood, there was piece of butcher paper and remnants of egg sandwich. The mechanic said a rat had dragged the food up into the engine to keep warm while he dined. Gross!

I love this space. I wish I possessed the inner peace to live in so "sparse" a manner. Alas, I need my stuff. Wonderful.

I have to say I am disappointed to read so many personal attacks on what, until now I considered a great outlet for creative people to discuss design. I don't find this man particularly extraordinary- not especially depraved or arrogant or boastful. He is lucky enough to have a rent controlled apartment, a lovely wife and baby, and a willingness to share his home. Seems fine so far. I won't even address someone ridiculous enough to comment on someone's age and whether or not they should have children. (Really??? Not your concern, I think)
Do I think it is inspiring in a design sense? Not at all. And perhaps that is AT mistake to feature his apartment. But it is a real New York story. I don't get the hate. . .

There is nothing wrong with hiding your TV, if that is what you want. I just think this is a poorly executed attempt. This is a design site, right?

and are the pillows, stacked up in front of the unit, part of the solution? You can still tell there are probably cable box/television paraphernalia behind them. I think they would look much better than this attempt. Really not good!
The dog, however is very cute.

Yes, bethaneebee. I think a large sort of abstract chandelier iwould really bring the Living Room together. If you can find something really great, it becomes artwork itself. A good place to put some serious money. But well worth it.

First-You have wonderful furniture and wonderful light. What a lovely space.

That being said. . . I don't get is the mirror. It is nice, but doesn't seem to speak to your other pieces. I would relocate to another room or get rid of it. (I hate waste, so I would try to relocate first.) But it seems very out of place to me.

Then I would work on furniture placement, because it does seem to lack a specific plan. (It is hard to tell how much room exists in the living room area.) But I would try switching the sofa in front of the window, to the other side to face that terrific view. Put the womb chair in front of the middle section of window. Slide the console and TV over to the left. That way the TV wouldn't be the focal point, which it is at the moment.

A large piece of artwork or wall treatment-definitely. If you can't purchase something you love, at the moment, I like the idea of a large stripe of color. (You should only buy what you love, so don't rush.)
The two pony chairs just seem to be shoved over by the window. A small (I think round metal and glass) table and a large plant, something structural(maybe a tree) in that corner would help ground and establish that area.

All that being said, you have a great space. I'm jealous!

Really? I don't get it. This seems like odd for odd sake or deconstruction because you can. But not because you should. I don't see any beauty in this line or flow or . . .
oh, really?

Great job. I do wish there was some art on the wall. But my boyfriend is an art dealer and I've learned that it is better to wait and buy something special.
Thumbs Up.

I seldom post negative comments. The upside, the Kitchen is nice. But the rest of the apartment leaves me baffled. I can't imagine that this was selected as a well-designed space. It is so messy, I am nervous looking as it. There is no flow. Why block a door?

I guess it works for you. But hardly worthy of an Apartment Therapy Post. I guess I am a bit "Old Fashioned". You know people are going to see your place, can't you atleast tidy up a bit.

Sorry to have been negative, but I am truly confused by this selection.

I also like the pink. But as you need to reupholster, I would go with either the tweed or the velvet. Well, instead of velvet, I would find a micro-fiber. It will be more easily cleaned. Let's face it, a chair in the Kitchen is bound to get something spilled on it. I do think, the classic simple line would look best with a classic, simple fabric. I love the chair.

Bravo & Brava! I think this is one of the best renovations/designs I've seen on this website. Every detail, every need, every function was considered. It is not remotely my style, but beauty is beauty! I went to the Architect's website, which does show off the space to it's best advantage. The artwork warms the space nicely. Thank you for your enthusiasm in sharing your wonderful home. "Job Well Done".
