I really dislike (my dad taught me not to say "hate") this redesign. I am so frustrated with it I have removed it from my bookmarks. It is too white, first of all, and secondly, too generalized. Remember how you used to have localities? That was good. I know you still nominally have them, but it is just lip service-- those areas of the site don't really apply to just those areas. The whole thing is just homogenized hooey. I'm really upset with you guys. And Ohdedoh is not as cute a word as you seem to think. I've wanted to tell you that for some time!

What fun! I'm jealous. Favorite room- the red bedroom with all the windows, the fan, and the porch.

I took out some crummy glass shower doors and installed a brushed nickel CURVED shower bar. Boy is that luxurious. And getting rid of the glass doors really opened up the (small) space.

I also bought a really nice shower head, and replaced a much-too-big, hideous old vanity and discolored sink with a cute little guy from IKEA, and a new medicine cabinet to match.

Sadly, what I really want to do is replace the ugly tile which covers all 4 walls from floor to ceiling but that will have to wait.

AT- I really find your story layouts chaotic. Like, I click on one of the above photos, presumably to see the before and after. You show me the before, but then I have to find the text heading and click on that to see both the before and after and the comments. There ought to be a better way to organize this. I often have this problem with your site. Maybe it's just me....

The same two stacked pillows are in both "rooms." Right?

I don't get what I'm looking at. Two different rooms? Different views of the same room? A before and after of the same room? If so, which is which?

I have to throw in my 2 cents. My upstairs neighbors were crazy-noisy when I first moved in. They seemed to always be having all-hands-on-deck-type emergencies up there-- frantic heavy footsteps from one area to another. One night, they were doing this late at night in their bedroom, above my bedroom, and it seemed like they were fighting maybe. I slipped a note under their door saying they were disturbing me and I hoped they would not continue to keep me up at night. They rushed right down and confronted me. Which was uncomfortable! They assured me that they were NOT wearing heavy boots, HAD carpet (I'll believe it when I see it), and that they did not stomp around daily, and had not even been awake at 1 am the night before-- a total bald-faced lie! But I tried to be cordial. It was kind of a relief to see who they were and to stop imagining a family of giant ogres. And they noise situation got quite a lot better after that. I guess I was lucky.

I think their quick response was because they DON'T have the requisite carpet and padding and wanted to avoid an audit by the co-op board.

They continue to annoy me at times, like when they had a small niece staying for a week. She ran around in hard shoes over the not-carpeted area and drove us nuts. When that started again a few weeks later, I went up and rang their bell and said, "In my apartment, it sounds like you are training circus ponies in there." He said "Oh, my nephew is visiting." I said, "Well, the noise is disturbing to me" purposely using the language of the House Rules rather than accusatory language.

But I thank god every day that they are just a normal couple, keep normal sleeping/waking hours, and have no children of their own. I'll be really scared if they ever move out!

Not really blown away that much. When I got to the sofa and chair layered with old bedding I stopped. The kitchen floor needs help.

My mom always used PF but she had some unique additions: giant dices of garlic and cubed Romano cheese, along with the standard onion and celery and lots of butter. I was surprised the first time she added Ramono but it was amazingly good.

PF is a great foundation, but, like stone soup, it benefits from all the creative yummy additions you can think of. And butter.

Wow! I love it. I just painted my kitchen a Martha Stewart color- Pencil. That minty green is an inspired choice.

Funny story- my husband used to accuse me of snoring, but his was the really bad snoring. One night, we and our 3 children had to share a motel room. Well, he was keeping us all awake with his snoring. Suddenly, he got up and looked furiously at me, and took a pillow and blanket down to the floor to sleep there. He had woken himself up with his own snoring and was convinced it was ME! And that time, aha! I had 3 witnesses. What an a-hole. We have since divorced.

Oh, wow! Orange is the color of the hour??? I just bought a gallon of Martha Stewart paint in "Pencil" (more orange than I expected). I painted the walls of my kitchen in advance of the upcoming cabinet job. It was a bit scary, it's so bold. But my cabinets are going to be very plain, flat-front, medium brown wood, and I don't want the place to be trying to look serious. It's too quirky a space to be serious. Hence the "Pencil."

That looks almost exactly like the bathroom in my apt. used to. This past weekend I removed the glass shower doors and installed a lovely curved brushed-nickle shower rod with a filmy white curtain. What a huge improvement. Also, it originally had a vanity like yours only bigger- it took up every inch of space between the toilet and tub. I ripped it out and installed a small cool vanity/sink from Ikea that is white with a frosted glass door and rectangular flat-bottom sink. But first thing you need to do is get rid of the brown rug!
