I'm excited! I've compiled my style tray on flickr:

Tomorrow morning I plan to get up super early (ok, maybe just kind of early)... have breakfast in bed (!!) and tackle this week's tasks.

I'm also in need of a coffee table - would love to try a diy.

My inspirations right now are mixed-media paintings and assemblages (Cy Twombly, Joseph Cornell...)... I currently have a lot of neutrals and blues in my apt, so I'd like to add more happy colours, perhaps some shots of yellow/orange....... I want my space to come to life! Btw, I'll be doing a deep clean, and a partial one-roomer with my bathroom (need to redo the tiles - yikes!).

I think I'll keep be using kaboodle as my online inspiration board; I'll be updating it this week: http://www.kaboodle.com/endofmay/home-sweet-home.html

uh oh, i've been slacking. this weekend I will do a major tackle on the living room and start posting some photos - I feel like I did such a great job in the kitchen, but have slowly weened since. This post was very inspiring, though - those colorful and organized shelves are so beautiful!

By the way, I need to cut back on books and magazines! badly! This is going to make a major difference. I'm excited now!

I also prefer scrolling - it's easier and faster than the thumbnails. Although, I think thumbnails are ok when the images are the same size/height - then the transition between images is not as jarring.

I love these spaces, especially #1 and #4! However, the biggest problem in my office (i.e. desk in living room) is finding a pretty solution for my printer and scanner. I keep looking at these images, trying to spot the printer, looking for clever hidden electronic tricks, without much luck.

I am so thrilled to see carpet! I have always hated the gray carpet in my rental - so this is especially inspiring. Thanks!

"Wabi Sabi..." by Leonard Koren is probably the most inspiring book I have ever read. I highly recommend it.

I think the above photos are more shabbilism (thanks lares!) - they are obviously staged, not lived-in, definitely not wabi-sabi. Wabi-sabi spaces, like tea rooms, are generally very small, intimate and cozy, lived, loved. I would love to see an article that more closely reflected the ideas of wabi-sabi. So inspiring.

By the way, I think whether it's trendy or not is irrelevant ~ authenticity, truth, tiny details, nature... these things will never be out of style, no matter what term people use for them.

try this one: http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/

it chooses the main colours from any image, and gives you both a dull and a vibrant palette.

btw, these were my own results: http://maybemaven.blogspot.com/2007/04/gathering-colour-and-pattern.html
