Not a bad idea if you've already go the boxes, but by my math, this would cost more than $140 plus paint and clips. A little more than I'm willing to spend on something that may look cheap or fall apart.

Wow, this totally hit home for me. My family rented the same cottage every summer of my life until it went on the market when I was 18. My parents bought the place and all of the furniture, decor, accessories stayed -- the hampers where I hid as a kid, the chests of drawers that have never opened properly... I couldn't be happier that my kids will probably be living with a lot of the same furniture and bizarre decor when we come back to visit years from now. Decorating the place ourselves just wouldn't have felt right.

I pay absolutely no attention to the names of colors (just painted two rooms in my house, could not tell you what the paint chip was called though), but here are some unpleasantly evocative color names that I would use, were I a paint-naming expert:

Spider vein
Milk past its prime
Dying palm tree
Kitty litter
Turbulence
Papercut
Dirty dishwater
Bandaid in the pool

And some less unpleasant ones:
Within the cloud
Playing in the sprinklers
Sand dune
Atlantic ocean
Homemade marinara

THANK YOU! I've summered on the Cape my whole life, but home decor has never been a priority before. Now, though, I'm about to start furnishing my first big girl apartment in NYC this month. Better still, I'll be moving in after spending a (already scheduled) week of vacation on the Cape. I would never have thought to visit the Wellfleet flea market, and now I may even drag my boyfriend/future roomie. He thanks you in advance ;) Anyone have any other Cape Cod vintage shopping recommendations??

Credenza and desk are both pretty fabulous... but they do make a strange pair.

I didn't notice the resemblance of the credenza to a vagina (which others pointed out), but I can only imagine how embarrassing it would be if unbeknown to you everyone who walked into your house thought your furniture looked like genitalia.

KayinKCMO, if you look carefully there are black blocks in the water that look like steps or a pathway and there's another black block at the far end of the hammock. So maybe you're meant to "walk on water" and then climb onto the hammock from the end?

Why This Outdoor Space Is Just As Cool As You Think It Is

Stability would definitely be a serious concern, and I think this requires cool, vintage magazines in order to look nice -- the mags I have lying around all have boring white spines. I'm a writer, though, so I have stacks of mags everywhere. I like to use them to create levels on my desk/dresser/bookshelves.

For those of us here in South Florida, summer means its time to close all of the windows and leave them that way for 5 months. Thank God for a/c. This is also the time of year that all my outside herbs and plants die because I just can't keep them watered enough. At least summer also means no more snow birds! Open roadways, here I come.

Along the same lines as adding treads to a staircase, i bet you could dip the soles of slippery shoes...

Though I'm also curious about how you avoid drips/puddles. Any ideas?
