I'm more of an Ikea Tobias girl, but I appreciate the different silhouettes of these Ghost alternatives.

I don't save magazines for trips, but I will admit to almost treating issues of Small Room Decorating like Charlie did his bday chocolate bars...

SRD is one of last print shelter mags and my apt is basically a larger SRO. The fact that it's a special interest pub that can't be subscribed to makes its quarterly issues seem all the more precious.

I'm always impressed by a cosy one room place that avoids being cluttered or cramped.

I'm also very curious about the little platen press looking thing. What is it? :)

The Container Store Roll Out Desk is similar to the pic 1 desk. Worldmarket had a similar model (hutch optional), but they've apparently replaced it with a metal legged version. Amazon and Overstock.com often have similar desks as well.

The craziest thing I'm thinking of doing is using over the door storage of some sort on the inside of my front door.

My main concerns are possible damage from the hooks moving and/or the hooks somehow jamming the door shut, especially if I use a bit of foam tape or non-slip shelf liner to keep the hooks in place.

Still, the possible storage space gained from the this dead area of my tiny rental continues to tantalize.

I hate rounded buds because they feel uncomfortably huge and don't stay in my ears.

My preferred buds are the $20 Sony MDR-ED21LP Fontopia. The L-shaped posts attaching cord to bud rest against my ear in just the right way. I get such a comfy good fit that I use them to listen to audio books in bed.

I always buy a few when they're on sale because my cord mangling eventually causes shorts near the plug :( The thickness of the plastic around the plug also doesn't play well some form fitting ipod and and phone cases.

Sony's newer ED12LP buds lack the L shape posts and are a poor substitute IMO, but the $14.99 price and color selection likely means death for the 21LP model.

As an aside, Apple's basic buds stay put in my ears and are comfy enough, but I hate the cord lengths and the 21LP's just give me a better fit.

I'm always amazed at where I'll find a small space inspiration here :) That first pic may solve a recent dilemma.

Loving that green in pic 5.

I'm all for LAT.

I'm the oldest of four and even as young child realized I wasn't interested in being tied down by kids or marriage.

My home is my refuge and I wouldn't want to sully that feeling by living in someone else's space or trying to accommodate contrary habits and preferences of
someone else in my own space.

My two 34"x34" wooden Cosco folding tables have served me well. They were $30 each from Home Depot and are sturdy & lightweight. However, even just one eats up too much space in my current apt and it's time to pass them on.

I'm considering the smallest bjursta. The 20" width w/o leaves is great for everyday, but 35" fully expanded will still let me wrangle large sheets of paper for bookarts.

I became really mercenary about cutting my San Francisco rent and was shocked at the competition for tiny, sub $800 apts. It took me over a year to find my studio and that was largely due to not wanting to leave my personal info with in-law landlords & not wanting to deal with reported bed bug issues in downtown complexes.

In the end, it was my rental resume and checkbook that got me my place and it also didn't hurt that I'd purged and measured my belongings enough to know I could live in the small space. I'm happy with the end result but will try to never again move before finding a new place.

The sitemeter stats sadly seem to answer many of the qualms those of us less happy with the redesign have brought up: Jan2012 is showing the most hits/views/etc. ever this pas 12 months, thus new design is "working" and stays.

The relative silence of the staff and removal of a central place to discuss the change (the redesign post) seals the deal. I've found the info vacuum to be more off putting than the sometimes antagonistic responses some gawker newtork editors offered during their redesign debacle.

AT might as well have been my homepage for all the time I spent on it before, but no longer. AT has clearly moved on and the sitemeter finally made me realize I'll have to as well.

Hah! My landlord and manager are so proud of the granite in my bldg's remodeled apts, but I only felt disappointment at the black holes in my kitchenette :( They really sucked during an ant infestation that had me shining lights on the counter at weird angles to see the ants.

Now that I plan to do some simple cooking, I'm looking for some cheap, low maintenance cover to place under the appliances and shelves I'm getting.
