We ordered our CSA last week and can't wait for the great veggies and berries this summer! A CSA is a wonderful way to support local - healthy - agricultural while lessening your carbon footprint. Our veggies travel 1.5 miles before we pick them up. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | 2009 CSA Shares: It's That Time of Year Again! |

I have a problem buying these soaps. Yes, they're eco-friendly, but only to a point. Why waste all that packaging (the bottle) for soap? I always go the bar in the recycled cardboard box route. Certainly less impact! Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Eco-Friendly Hand Soaps Under $5 |

I blogged about Verdier's VW Bus yesterday. It is the best camper I've seen! The cute home theater system seems like the perfect compliment to a day full of hiking and BBQing - doesn't that sound perfect? I worked on an environmental committee at my previous job and we were campaigning to get hand dryers instead of paper towels in the bathroom. After lots of research, they seemed like the more eco-friendly option (although I'm a big proponent of drying on my pants). The reason we didn't get the dryers? The very low-energy usage ones were not cheap and they spread germs more than paper towels (long explanation here). Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Which is More Green: The Hand Dryer or a Paper Towel? |

@beesknees CFLs do not work on dimmers. I also found that one of my fixtures makes a weird crackling noise when a CFL is in it. So right now, I'm using incandescents in two fixtures. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Good Question: What To Do With Old Incandescents? |

I've heard of people using balls for YEARS. This is certainly nothing new. I use it because it helps the sciatica. Rumor has it, you're only supposed to sit for 20-min at a time so it doesn't screw w/your alignment. I would check with your local recycling plant. Here in Vermont, the shredded paper is recyclable, but they only pick it up if it's in CLEAR PLASTIC bags. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Good Question: Can You Recycle Shredded Paper? |

I find that if I am hand-washing sweaters, I will start with the lightest (in color) and move to the darker sweaters so that the pigments left in the soapy water don't affect the lighter sweaters. A cap of Woolite will easily clean four sweaters and only takes one sink-full of water. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Simple Green: 5 Ways to Clean Up Your Laundy |

I would much rather use a towel than paper so, the switch seemed easy to me. For guests? I place kitchen towels (a couple of them) around the kitchen so they're easy to get at. I find this curbs my guests from even asking for paper towels because they can easily see where else to dry their hands. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | A Paper Towel-less Life |
