I have a Breeze system for my cat, which is similar to the product described in the OP. The litter is large-ish clay pellets that sit on a grate. There is a tray that gets lined with an absorbent pad, like an over grown puppy pad, and slides under the litter grate. Solids sit on top, and liquids run through to the pad. I've had it for years and love it. I find I can actually get the pads and pellets to last about twice as long as the instructions say (2 weeks per pad, and 8 weeks per bag of pellets). There is no urine odor at all, and other odors only when "fresh." Hardly any litter tracking either. I originally bought it at Target, but it's really only available online now. I order refills once a year from Amazon. It's hard for cats to burying in the pellets, so it won't work for everyone. Fortunately, my cat is happy to "pretend" burying things by pawing at the bathroom tile. Ideal Kitty Litter for Apartment Dwellers? Good Questions |

For past moves, I've donated everything. I'm planning my first really big move (not just across town) to go back to school in the fall, and I'm going to have a yard sale. Not only am I moving three states away, I'm also down sizing my square footage (from 900 to 600ish), so I'm being pretty ruthless as I decide what goes. Some larger items (the desk I never use, my washer/dryer) will go on craigslist. I live in a college town, and will be selling right as new grad students are moving in, so that should help. A good friend has offered her driveway, and I'm slowly sorting through my closets and bagging things up to sell. I hope to have the sale in July right before I move, and use the money to offset some of the moving costs. I'm pricing to move not to make money (think $1 clothing and $0.25 books). I figure $1 for that sweater is more than I would get from dropping it off at the thrift store. At the end of the day, anything left over will get donated. Cool idea, but Duane Hill is right about the precarious ladders. I also would want a more substantial rail on the top bunk. Double Murphy Bunk Bed by Casa Kids |

The research consortium I work with gave away Built bags at our meeting a few years ago. I LOVE mine. It's solid burgundy with the consortium logo screen printed on one side, so not the prettiest bag. I love that it is stretchy, and easy to wash. I also have a lunch bag from the Lean Cuisine give away a few years ago (yeah, sometimes I have to settle for a frozen lasagna dinner). It's a great size, and the handle is long enough to fit over my shoulder. Which Lunch Bag Do You Recommend? Good Questions |

My fridge has one large crisper drawer, but I don't use it because it does not track well, and the sides are all opaque so I forget things are in there. I don't have any other drawers, but I do have several clear plastic shoe boxes that I can use to corral the cheese and other small items. My great aunt makes an amazing boiled chocolate icing, and I made it for the first time this weekend. In her version, you melt 1 stick of butter and 2 cups of sugar in 3/4 cup of milk, then slowly bring to a boil while stirring. Let boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat. Add 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 1 tsp vanilla, then beat until smooth and thickened (but not as thick as you think it should be). I makes enough for 4 thin layers (2 regular size 9-inch layers cut in half). Family Recipe: Boiled Chocolate Icing Recipes from The Kitchn |

I cut the cord last summer. The only OTA channels I can reliably watch are CBS and PBS (fortunately a very good PBS station). I have a Roku, and use Hulu+, Amazon, and Netflix. I also use my parents' cable account to access ESPN (and now the Olympics live stream) online. I don't really watch any less TV, but I am watching higher quality TV. Instead of watching the Kardashians when I'm bored and lazy, I'll watch old episodes of The French Chef on Amazon. Weighing the Pros & Cons of Cutting Cable |

I have a lot of trouble with ear buds slipping out as I get sweaty. I just bought a pair of Phillips ear buds with a soft/flexible over-the-ear loop. They still slip out some, but at least stay near hooked on my ear. When running outside, I only wear one bud, and leave the other (usually the traffic side ear) tucked under my bra strap. You can make ham "jerky" - lay the slices out on the oven rack (or on a cooling rack over a cookie sheet), and bake at 200 degrees, checking and turning every 10 minutes until it's dry and jerky like. It sounds crazy, but it's actually pretty good. What Can I Do With Boring Ham? Good Questions |

@Duane Hill - Yes, people survived in the South before air conditioning, well into the 20th century in fact. My mother was born in 1950, and didn't have a/c at home until she was a teenager. Yes, they used windows and fans, but the high ceiling/large window/front porch image is highly romanticized. For every house using Thomas Jefferson standards of air flow and cooling, there were dozens of tiny farm houses and cabins, many without any windows at all. Sleep on the front porch sounds like an easy, fun way to deal with heat, but it gets old after a few nights. Most of my family and friends have lived in the South without a/c for at least 2 years at some point in life. None would ever willingly live without it again. I went without for 2 years in college. Never again. It was miserable. It's damn near impossible to sleep when it's 95 degrees in your bedroom, no matter how many fans and open windows you have. On, Off or In Between? Air Conditioning |

I have a heavy duty white noise machine. The type used in medical offices. We lived near an interstate when I was a kid, and my mom put a fan in the room to drown out the traffic noise. I've needed white noise ever since. After years of using fans, my parents gave me the real deal for Christmas. What's Your Can't Live Without Item for a Good Night's Sleep? Reader Survey |
