This is a bit off topic but I love the pink lamp in the first picture. Does anyone recognize it?

All of this looks great. I just feel really reticent about having my docs and files and photos sitting in a cloud somewhere, its maintenance and security in the hands of someone other than myself. Does anyone else feel like that? I know there are privacy clauses and agreements, etc. but mistkaes happen and that's my whole life.

Does anyone know how tall the backsplash area should be - that is how much space between the couter and the bottom of the upper cabinets? These all look a bit different to me in that arena.

This house is so lovely. It is exactly the kind of decor I favor. Can you tell me what kind of floors you have and the material for the kitchen countertop?

Thank you everyone for your great ideas and comments. I live alone so privacy is a limited issue. Nonetheless if I'm going to all this trouble I'd like to make it so it is comfortable and private under any conditions.

Splatgirl, it was you who inspired me in the first place, so thank you. And I was wondering if I can use the PAX hardware with a sliding wall mount. I was looking at your divider indtructions and thinking that I could wall mount the PAX rail using L brackets and cut the bottom rail so it only runs along the wall (not the opening) thereby keeping the door extra stable but without having to step over anything in the doorway. Also, what about the privacy issues pointed out by everyone. Do you have issues with your bathroom door having gaps or making the space less private?

BTW: Joel - I love the blue ant studio photos of your glass door. Rich LovesDesign - check out the comments following Joel's glass door. He mentions a plastic glide to keep the door hanging straight so maybe no need for the bottom rail. I'm going to look into it too.

Thanks for your comments. My concern isn't really mac vs. pc - it's about building a system that will work together. My computer needs are pretty standard but I want to be able to sync my PDA/cell with it, play music throughout my home wirelessly, as well as hook into my HDTV easily. I know Apple is great for this but it's really expensive. Will a PC system sync everything together smoothly?

I like it but I agree with the other comments. For my purposes it would not be useful as a bedside table and the price is nuts. But I think the idea has merit if it could be made more useful.

I got a great daybed from crate and Barrel three years ago - I think it was called the Malamar? - but it has help up very well through multiple moves, cats, dust, etc. It has a trundle and it's even comfortable to sleep on.

The only problem is that I'm looking for a new daybed mattress cover and the pickings look to be slim. Any ideas?

I love the kitchen. It's so perfect. If I had more than a modified hallway for a kitchen I would want it to look like yours. Can you please tell me where you're rug came from? It's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks to everyone who posted answers. I really appreciate the advice. Does anyone have experience with the polypropylene rugs? Do they feel like plastic? Will a cat's claws destroy it?

I love the rug. But has anyone has any experience with this type of rug? Does it feel like a plastic yoga mat or does it feel at all rug-like. There's a lot of cool mats out there but I'm hesitant to use them for any real living space.
