I couldn't agree more with your comment about how (some) people tend not to speak to the people they encounter working at our local businesses here in NYC.

In such a huge city, I personally enjoy being a familiar face to the woman at the dry cleaner, laundromat, Korean market (known as convenience stores elsewhere) and even the people at Starbucks.

Creating a sense of community is so important and making the tiny effort to do so has become neglected. I know it's off the topic, but that's one reason I like AT -- it feels like a community, albeit online, but nonetheless a community.

I hope more people will read your post and be inspired the next time they walk into the corner store or dry cleaner.

What is the name and manufacturer of the blue paint you used in your bedroom?

This place is absolutely stunning! It's understated, but in a good way that seems to work for you (Alex). I love the garden. You are so lucky to have such a oasis in the middle of the city. (If you ever move, please let me know!!!) The herbs and flowers look ever-so beautiful.

I love the simpleness of the apartment. Lots of little details, but nothing too overpowering. The white kitchen cabinets must hold so much. I have to keep stuff above mine and wish I didn't. I'm still thinking of other options.

Question: Where did you get the pretty shelf in the bathroom?

Also, how did you ever make that perfect entertainment center? That is exactly what I want for my apartment and of course, I've been looking for months and haven't found anything close. Do you have actual instructions you followed and what is the level of difficulty? Would you be willing to post or provide a link?

If you happen to wander back to your posting, I saw your suggestion for new chairs "swanky clear acrylic ones from target, also folding." I am searching for a clear, acrylic folding chair and I searched the target.com website to no avail. If you can find the link to these chairs and could post it, that would be terrific.
