Lisa's Homemade Style in Harlem House Call

I would also change the cabinet color just a bit lighter. Otherwise I would really love to have this kitchen. My kitchen is about the same size (if not a bit smaller.) Unfortunately, everything in my kitchen is on 1 side, I do have a window and wouldn't mind having my sink under it but, in order for anything to change I would have to have "Major", reno's done. I rent and have made many changes in my apartment on my dime, but can't see or do I have 10 to 15 thousand dollars for a kitchen makeover. I would like to know how much this 1 cost?
Thanks as always for the great ideas and comments!

Wow! Lots of comments from lots of people. I'll keep it short and to the point. This is going to be YOUR kitchen. I would assume you hired professional contractors, whom you trust, so go with your heart ask many questions and don't settle for anything less than what YOU want, There are no stupid questions except the 1 you don't ask! Good luck and if there ever comes a point when your not happy with something speak up immediately and be sure you are heard!! I look forward to watching your choices/decisions. And of course your final result.
God Bless!

Introducing Christine & Pierre's
Kitchen Renovation Renovation Diary

I grew up in a house and raised my 2 boys in a house with a large yard, until they started High School. We moved to a condo for a few years and then an apartment. I now live in a small apartment for the past 10+ years. I have no intention of moving. I'm happy and comfortable, however, I could use some help pulling it (the main room) together. I have been entering every contest out there for over 10 years, for just a little help but I am believing that if you don't own you can't win anything. But I'll keep trying. Just like I'll keep checking out your wonderful site and give Kudos to ALL your wonderful, brave viewers that put themselves out there!

I have to admit I didn't read through all the other suggestions, so I might be repeating some thins. I have been living in a rental. (over 10 years now). Most of my friends think I'm crazy for all the work/money into my apartment. To all those people I say simply "this is MY home"!!
Choose the color scheme you want by something you love that you already have! I think you must lighten up your walls, and change your hardware on the cabinets. The cabinets look good and it sounds like you don't want to paint them, that's fine, the hardware change will be bigger than you can imagine. Also, I don't have a space for a table in my kitchen either and very little counter space, so I bought a good piece of plywood, to fit where I wanted it and attached it with "piano hinges", this way it can go down when I don't need the space for dining or cooking. In another apt. I lived in the space was a bit larger but very narrow, so I found an old "sofa table" and painted it put a piece of plywood at the bottom and then I was able to put stools underneath out of the way, again I had more counter space and dining area. Now for the countertop, there are paints you can buy if you don't like the color, or depending on how hard you are on your countertops, I have used "contact paper" and covered my countertops which lasted for years. I agree with the comment above regarding the "under the cabinet lighting", it works great for me! I hope you enjoy what ever you do or have already done and remember you can always change something if you change your mind, mood or style! Happy decorating!

I love this room. I also have a room that has to work for many functions. I'm in the painting stage and Iwas thinking of stenciling a Trellis pattern on my back wall in warm/cool greys, thanks for showing me a glimpse of my idea. Since every one I've tried to explain my vision to was like. "HUH"???
