geckotoes1, I went to a wedding last year for friends who already owned a home, already saved up for their honeymoon, and genuinely did not want any gifts or cash. They included a short note in the wedding invitation mailing indicating that they were requesting no gifts and no shower, but listed two charities close to their hearts that guests could donate to if they felt so inclined. Mentioning gifts along with the invitation seems to go against proper etiquette, but I think they handled it tastefully.

Absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful job with the space.

I live in a small apartment and I use Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat litter for my two cats. It clumps well, covers odors (you need to remember to scoop the box regularly; I do it 2-3 times a day), and doesn't track much. I used to use World's Best, but I found it to be very dusty, expensive, and corn-based litters can cause respiratory problems in cats.

sarajanie, aloe is toxic to cats. Make sure you keep it safely out of reach!

conejitoasesino: There are many houseplants that are toxic to animals and can cause serious illness or even death depending on the amount ingested. Children can be taught not to eat household items; pets can't always be taught that. Also, cats are good at hiding symptoms of illness, and by the time you realize it's sick, it may be too late. If your kid is choking on a small decoration you left out, you're (hopefully) going to notice.

I can't imagine the pain of giving up a pet (thankfully, my allergies to mine are minimal), but hopefully your sister will be comforted by knowing that the cats are being kept together in what sounds like a wonderful new home.

This is one of my favorites as well. Beautiful colors, not too cluttered, and that first picture is great with the trees outside continuing on the wall inside.

It looks very cluttered to me, definitely not something I would find relaxing. I like that you embrace all the light you get by keeping so many things light-colored (walls, bedding, etc.).

I would definitely be interested in seeing the rest of your house- you have a really unique look!

Honestly, I'm not a fan. It looks like you moved in this morning and the pictures sitting on the floor look like clutter, not decoration. The green floor is great, though. It's a tough space being in the attic, but it just looks unfinished to me.

I live in a studio as well and I think trying to cover the kitchen would make the whole space seem even smaller. I try to keep it as uncluttered as possible and that makes a big difference visually.

Please, please, please do NOT cover your fridge with a furry magnet or decorate the dishwasher with plywood. Put away the junk on the counters and take down that clock. Put some neutral colored baskets above the cabinets for storage instead of the colorful vases (those draw your eyes to the kitchen, which is the opposite of what you want). Fold the dish towels instead of shoving them into the oven handle.

And if the rest of your furniture faces the kitchen, is there any way of re-arranging it to minimize the kitchen view?

I think it's ridiculous to ask the downstairs neighbor to buy a mat/rug for the upstairs neighbor. If you are buying noisy exercise equiptment and live in an apartment building, you should be responsible for any accessories to minimize noise as well.

I would go to the landlord/management company. If you tried to compromise with her once and it did not work, I doubt a second attempt would be effective. As others have said, it could be a damage-to-the-building issue, which would definitely concern the landlord.

Uncle Beefy, that's the best response ever from the hostess. I would be so tempted to do that if I had someone not only not RSVP but show up with extra guests as well.

There are people who smoke outside my apartment. Fans in the window (blowing out) help a little, but my apartment still stinks like smoke for the next few hours even if the fan is on. It's disgusting.

I think smoking and barking dogs equally deserve complaints to the HOA.
