I love his work. So quirky and fun. Definitely for those with a sense of humor. I would get one in a heartbeat if they didn't cost $2k + =/

It's an Ermine, not a ferret.
And pretty sure it's stuffed. Like for decoration (cute/ humorous) not as a dog or cat toy =P

I agree with most except the whole DIY thing. I don't think it is trendy to DIY, I think it is necessary in our current economy. Also think about all the crap we go through and how filled our landfills are. Not consistently buying new, but instead finding a purpose for the old is a very good thing. And people come up with the greatest ideas. It's fantastic to see something completely worn turned fabulous, or a reuse that you wouldn't generally think a use for.

I realize this hurts the average designer but more power to the people I say. It's always good to be able to rely on oneself!

I to saw this earlier and I think I remember someone mentioning a very valid point: Americans will have a difficult time accepting the modern remodel to a Victorian home (in a nut shell). It's true for the most, Americans are very focused on preservation in every detail possible, so it makes it difficult to think outside of the box. I give them props for breaking the rules and mixing it up. We do not move forward when cemented in place by ideology.

The white is definitely an improvement. That yellow was absolutely blinding and not close to "warm and welcoming". The floor is there now and it is a fantastic prominent feature.

Though I do agree with other posters, bring in art or photos for the walls and please paint the doors. The white on white is as bad as the yellow on yellow. It is washed out and takes character away from the entire room. And those doors are beautiful.. show them off! Black, grey, red. Emerald green would be amazing even. I would consider painting the beams the same color as you choose for the doors =)

I am confused by this tour. And honestly pretty disappointed.. My apologies, not trying to offend the dwellers, but sheet covered sofas, toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, loads of random mismatched things, clutter, some books and the not so great photos leave me feeling a little lack luster here.

Thanks to everyone who Favs my room and all the kind comments! And thank you Apartment Therapy for the love. The "Rambo" comment is priceless and made me laugh out loud. Thank you for that!

It was a blast taking a big risk most wouldn't. Especially when 99% of the decor and furniture was at one time, all someone else's "trash" and I had to figure out how to make it all work together. If you'd like to see what the room looked like before or see more pics, please come visit me, I'd love to have ya!

Why I believe this design was chosen:

1. It would take a total of five seconds to set it up.
2. Super lightweight and easily shoved into your laptop bag.
3. Non obtrusive. Clean thin lines make it barely visible.
4. The price is nice but not cheaper than what is available out there now. So not too sure why this is a highlight.

To comment on the second poster Edboy1: Yes, laptops typically need to be cooled with a fan or offered the ability to allow airflow to run across/under it in order to release the heat that builds. Do you or have you ever owned one? All depends on the model and maker, but they can get quite warm and even uncomfortable to have on your lap. Try it out sometime.

I also can see myself using this more so than a chunky fan that I typically place under mine currently. The fan weighs more and is much larger, being more difficult and a pain to lug around.

I love what they did with it. Yes, the back seems very modular, but interesting in it's own right.

American's are very particular on keeping things the way they were meant to be, but breaking the rules is a wonderful surprise. Bravo!

@ Jess13... It's funny, because you told me not to do what you just did.

Do you regularly see the paint chips gone from the rack besides perhaps one color on a new release? Hearing the mumblings of the workers "There was this HUGE stampede of folks crazily grabbing them in the hundreds and running off."

When you ask a rep for a book, are you often told "I have had to get bodyguards due to the crazy people following me asking me for our paint chip books"

Do you really truly believe that people are going to rush the paint chip stands and reps to do this?? Get real. I mean come on now... what is with extremists anymore.

Over protective of paint chips much?

First off. You can get paint chip books for FREE from the rep. So even though the paint companies pay to have these made, they are usually happy to give you a chip book for free. Imagine that.

Second off. Do you realize how many chip samples they get in? So many that they typically toss them out when the new colors come in.

Pretty sure the only thing that will happen by grabbing enough to use as art, is some odd looks.

And using them is recycling them btw. What do you people do with all the ones you grab? Off to the dump, I'm sure. At least a tree didn't die in vain for this wall art idea.

Why not both?

The "big" rug purchase being that great (and spendy) neutral, and layer it with a less expensive fun or tradition color/pattern.

This way, you both will be happy in the end. It also allows for some rug alone time if wanted, by simply moving one to another location or storing it, while enjoying the other solo for awhile.

The Case for Neutral Area Rugs

After all the negative and nit-picky opinions, I wish to add something a bit more positive.

While it may be made to set focus on the more "elite", there are some amazing aspects that offer fantastic creative decor ideas. Look at the individual pieces and not just the rooms.

The redesigned RH is a personal change for the company. Not everything is made for everyone, there is no need to cut down or be sarcastic. Especially when this company was not doing so well in the not so distant past, and now it is flourishing.
