I always feel that this hardly qualifies as mulch. It seems to be more often used as a measure to bring uniformity to a generic landscaping job.

In other words... amateurs with poor aesthetics.

@mschatelaine -- I didn't realize that reading all of the prior comments was required before leaving my own. So, to answer your question... obviously, no.

Sometimes, people make hasty comments that make them seem ignorant, in my case, or rude, in yours.

I have been noticing this recently, so I'm glad that you covered it.

I'm also curious, and maybe a reader can clue me in, about the fact that some beds in places such as Sweden appear to be two mattresses side-by-side. Instead of a divided box spring and single mattress, as sometimes happens in the US, it's like two beds pushed together.

Here's a sample from the Chez Larsson blog: http://chezlarsson.com/myblog/2011/01/new-mattress.html

Emmi, thanks for your clarification! The bit about the antibodies really hits home since I have so many autoimmune issues. I'm going to inquire with my rheumatologist about potentially having this test.

I use old bedding to crochet rugs and bags. It's a heck of a workout for my arms, but I love the result.

One word, and I hope that my child does not hear me typing it or I'll have to make one: FRITTATA. It's a great way to get in a lot of veggies and it doesn't need carbs or preservatives, and you can keep it fresh by varying the ingredients. Hopefully cheese won't be a problem so that you can eventually re-introduce that as well. Soup can be pretty safe and variable too.

I have a number of autoimmune issues and it is often reported by others that they've seen (felt) results by eliminating gluten. This is something that I would like to give a try. However, these don't have celiac disease, so this intolerance wouldn't show up on a blood test. So, while Emmi is right, passing the test doesn't mean that gluten wouldn't still be an issue.

I live in Wisconsin and I've bought the spicy cheese bread at the farmer's market. I will attest to its deliciousness!

I have a sink similar to the first one, and I like it, but I'd also list as a con that it can be difficult to find drainboards that work with the raised edge. I purchased a draining mat instead.

I really appreciate this piece. I have Sjögren's syndrome, which dries me out, so I really need good humidifiers during the cold months. I have one for the bedroom, but I'm on the hunt for a first floor unit. I'm really liking Fred or the Vornado. Fred gets points for looks.

@anepasor Thank for the inspiration. I'm 20 minutes northwest of Madison and... I love winter but I sure can't count on working out in the elements. Congrats on your room!

How Do You Work Out at Home?
11/11/11 4:33 PM

I shut off my alarm. The weather automatically pops up. I usually peek at my email to see if there's anything glaringly awesome waiting for me, like a gig. So, less than two minutes of time with the phone in bed.

My problem lies in the fact that I work from home. I've been trying to force myself to eat breakfast at the dining table with the newspaper or a magazine. I fail at that 99% of the time and eat at my desk with Google Reader. This lack of easing into work seems to wad up the entire morning until noon, when I actually leave my desk to eat.

I need to make that adjustment to eating at the table. It is SO difficult. (First world problems!!)

Is Screen Time in the Morning a Bad Thing?

I bought two of the Belkin Conserve Socket Power Timers about six months ago. I am really happy with them... except when I forget to hit the button on top to turn on the power, which leads to waking up late to a dead phone. That's my bad though. It's not Belkin's fault that I'm so tired when I go to bed.

Very nice product though.

Anyone know if it is manufactured or handmade?

I was on a mission, as an adult, to learn to like all of the vegetables that I hated as a child, most especially brussel sprouts. I have found that roasting a vegetable almost always cured whatever about it that ailed me.

Oh, yum. I would like a tuna, arugula, and apple sandwich, please.

This autumn, I made apple-bacon-cheddar pie. I judged a pie competition that had this particular combination, and so I tried to recreate it at home. More sweet than savory, but yum. Recipe HERE.

So, that was not the most interesting project. These here are pretty cool and I definitely need to take it up a notch.
