Love the Waterford Marquis Vintage collection, which can be purchased through Macy's. The glasses for reds are well shaped and could serve a white just as easily. I prefer crystal, thin-lipped and large bowled glasses, and these are a perfect, classic shape. Very much like the Reidel Bordeaux glasses. Best Wine Glasses 2009 | Apartment Therapy New York |

I don't know about anyone else, but the easel as a TV stand really bothers me. I'm a painter, and I definitely want to separate my creative space from my media space. I can't appreciate the reference to the screen as art. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Easels as Home Decor |

I think I've mentioned this one in a previous post on the topic. My neighbor is a schizo-effective transexual MTF who decided within a month of moving in that she had a crush on me, and began an aggressive campaign to be my best friend. The knocks on my door, morning and night, at least twice a day, comments confirming she's overheard personal conversations through the hall wall, inquiries about who my visitors are and which ones are my boyfriends... I sometimes feel like she's stalking me. I can't do yard work without having her come down (she works at home.) I've caught her letting my dog into her house "for a visit," while I run through the neighborhood searching for her. She's both blatantly hit on me, and left love notes in my mailbox. I live in a railroad flat, so there are three parlors. The one closest to the kitchen and designated "dining room" by the realtor is my painting studio. It's close proximity to the bathroom sink/tub, it's distance from the living room, where I don't want fumes, and the fact that it has the most windows decided it. We have a small dining table in the second parlor opposite the front door, and only eat there when there are guests in the house. Unfortunately, it also serves as a landing strip, which i am trying to change! Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Reader Survey: Do You Use Your Dining Room to Dine? |

I wanted to move my sofa out of my bay window, where it seemed to fit perfectly, because it blocked the heat source in the room, and I read about how energy inefficient that was. The only way the room would work after that was to place my two sofas across from one another. I don't like too much symmetry, but the sofas are each quite different, and it looks great. What about a nicely frame Rothko, Albers, or Hans Hoffmann print? All of these are abstract painters with color theory as a basis for their work. I've seen so many to choose from online! You might try MOMA or another major museum online shop. I've seen prints sold through Amazon as well. Do a search for an artist you like and see what turns up. This is interesting, because I came home from work tonight, read the thermostat at 58 and decided it was time to put on the heat. Only, the thermostat is very testy, and the heat won't come on. It is not uncommon, in upstate NY, to experience flurries in October. I would say mid-October is heat season. I am glad the thermostat is being grumpy tonight, because I needed to think twice and invite the dog to sit on the couch with me! Apartment Therapy Chicago | AT On: Transition Months and Heating |

In upstate NY, we have a lot of old houses with radiators and ugly heaters, and we have to keep them functional with our winters! It's fairly standard to put a radiator cover over them. You should be able to buy one in the right dimensions from a historic home supplier, or make one yourself, purchasing the punched tin from Lowe's or Home Depot, and making a wood frame for it. You can paint the tin whatever color you like, and make it really cool. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: Hide My Heater?Los Angeles |

I have a hard time with naps, but I've been catching 15-30 min on the couch lately in the afternoon, between calls for work (I work remotely part of the day.) With my pomeranian curled up next to me, on the couch, must have a blanket, even a light one. If I sleep longer than that, I need a coffee and feel "off." Pakobel rugs, an Ebay store, sells kilims and dhurries that look a lot like the one you've pictured. I have a similar one from them in black and off-white stripes, made of wool. It wears extremely well, considering that it is an antique. The prices on Pakobel's site are great! I got mine for less than $30 with shipping, because I was the only bidder! One thing to watch for, some of them are used and have slight imperfections, which are stated on each auction. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Good Questions: Where Can I Find a Rug Like This? |

I wish I had the problem of a simply rude onlooker. Unfortunately, I have the problem of a work-at-home transsexual MtoF woman upstairs who has developed a crush on me. She knocks on my door 2-3 times a day, when I am home. She runs out to the yard the minute I go out to take my trash out, and asks if I need help. I keep declining her invitations to have dinner or drinks. I can't seem to bring myself to be rude and direct with her, but it's been a source of stress, since she seems to be marking my every mood, and then coming to knock and make comments about it. I think she's a full-on hyper-vigilant obsessive compulsive. I value my privacy!! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | LA Good Question: Dealing With Nosy Neighbors? |

I think it would be nice to inject a little warmth into the bathroom, like with some wood accents. Something with a medium/reddish finish. A couple of wood shelves, a wastepaper basket, a wooden cup for your toothbrush... Maybe a basket for storing towels. I would look for a small work of art. A small abstract painting with neutrals, all close to white and the wall color, would look really fabulous over the toilet or towel rack. I have an all white bathroom, with wainscotting, and I put a large pink painting in there with red and brown accents in it to give it warmth. But that is the only color I've put there. I think the key is to go with one or two spots of color, and in this case, to make it happen with wood. Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Good Questions: Bathroom Accessory Color? |

Gretchen Bellinger carries a felt that comes in close more than 20 colors. She has several whites, taupes, and creams to choose from. I can't quote you the exact price, but I think it goes for something like $50-60/yd. It's an excellent product! I worked for her at one point, and I have seen it used for many applications, with beautiful results. It is upholstery weight, non-scratchy, and meant for furniture application. I second the thoughts of the reader who cautioned against placing artwork in light. Especially with paintings and works on paper, this is a bad idea. It is better to avoid hanging artwork in direct sunlight, even on a wall. It's harder to appreciate the artwork, when it is backlit by sun. Your eyes can't read the colors properly that way. I've seen some amazing things done with knotty pine and milk paint. Casein (milk) paint will produce historic character, and coupled with a modern light fixture, could be a really interesting treatment of the hallway. It should reveal some of the texture of the wood, while lightening and brightening the space. You could try some milk paint on a sample of knotty pine to see if it's something you like, first. Another plus, with milk paint, is that it is all-natural and non-toxic! Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: How Can We Lighten Up the Hallway? |
