LOL. Not only is the pool not real, but the people in the pool don't even look real. It looks like a screenshot from The Sims.

my boyfriend could then really have his own "man cave" like he calls his man room.

I wouldn't do anything obviously that had yellow understones in it such as beige. I would probably choose a very light slate blue or bluish green color since I am assuming you are going for a bright airy look. These colors would also balance the dark floors and light oak cabinets. Reds also tend to not look good imo with light oak.

hmm...i don't particularly care for the look unless you really can't find another place for extra storage. For display purposes it seems odd to look up everytime i walk through my doorway, not to mention to high to appreciate anything up there.

I can see how this place would be great for partying and such with all the seating arrangements and open space, however it doesn't feel homey to me. There are some very beautiful elements to this place such as the chinese daybed, but my eyes are going crazy trying to absorb everything in the space, and I can't focus on any one of them without being distracted by all the chairs and sofas. Some of it looks a little Pier1ie to me also.

Just to clarify, I am not saying that the particular pieces in this apartment are in my budget, but I can go through all of them and find an alternative that is very similar and in my price range.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS! It has been a while since I've seen a house tour here that inspired me AND was actually attainable with a modest amount of money. It's minimal without feeling sparse, and has character without feeling cluttered. The color palette is my idea of perfection!

Your kitchen has an amazing backsplash and your sofa is cool...other than that it needs some flavor!
