Maybe they were. I don't think that's an excuse to be a jerk about it. I've had men in the past cancel dates with me when I told them I was vegetarian. Once, a guy actually chewed with his mouth open and cooed about how awesome meat was.

Food is really visceral. People act weird when you aren't "like" them with food.

Their numbers are a little inflated for where I live. We're probably paying about two or three cents more per backyard egg. But still, I feel good about their life conditions. And this doesn't really factor in that if you're getting a bunch of eggs a week (my four hens make probably 23-25 weekly), you find ways to use them. I find myself buying less of other protein sources and sandwich fillings.

I agree with Chelsea for frozen soups. While I wouldn't let mine thaw in my bag, masons full of frozen soup are an efficient way to do soup since you can make a huge batch and then eat it bit by bit.

@Melissa. I am with my dog the entire time, that's how I know the neighbor throws rocks at it. Do you happen to be my neighbor, because it sounds like you have a very ... interesting idea about dog behavior and how it's my fault that my neighbor has committed animal cruelty an abuse against the already-abused shelter dog I recently adopted.

My dog barks. So, rather than be patient while I work through it (he's doing so much better!), my 28-year-old neighbor has started throwing rocks at him.

I love this house, really beautiful work. That said, I know exactly where this house is, and I hope that in their work, they are being mindful of property values, property taxes and how that might impact their low-income neighbors. Beautiful and socially mindful wins the race!

I'm a long time reader, but I just registered to comment on this. I read the laundry room post. I think there were some people who went too far in their criticisms, implying that the parents don't care about or love their son. And commenters needed to be reminded of their manners, certainly. But it was an unsafe room. And even if it is a slippery slope to make safety judgements, you should explicitly address those safety concerns on posts about questionable rooms, and parents submitting rooms should provide that info. I don't think you can sit here and point your finger at the community when there was plainly a dereliction of editorial duty in publishing this post as-was. I think this situation has been mishandled at all levels.
