Mel, I am very impressed with the functional aesthetic you create. I think that you would be able make any space work and look fantastic while doing so!

Ah, 'unit J' is it? You can't fool us Mark. Such a sense of style. Money could be a help, but even if I had it, I couldn't do anything with as much style and humor. As we say in New Zealand: 'cool as!'

Yeah, that's a tricky situation with the space behind the sofa. You can have the fire or the view, but not both. Mirrors might help, say a wall of mirrors behind the fireplace could pull in the view from the windows, really open the room. Sofa on opposite wall, TV nxt to fire... You guys probably already considered that. Ah just a thought.

I would also agree about the photos, attention seems to be on the furniture, not the space. I would imagine more votes if the apartment itself was more visible as it looks like a lovely place!

I particularly like the mirror next to the window in the lounge as it has multiple effects of doubling the light and creates a sense of space too. Heaps of great ideas for my flat, thanks Joe!

Such a cool vibe to your place! Storage above bed is a great idea, hope it's nothing heavy tho-it is SF. Sorry, can't help myself as I was there in '89 (22 yrs, OMG!)

A kitchen island on wheels may help to add a counter top and a bit more storage

Luke you are awesome! Talk about taking lemons n making lemonade. This is a great design solution and that I think is the point here. It's an inspiration, anyone can take a regular flat and make it look good, but to make a seemingly impossible space work and look fantastic? That is design at it's best.
