Are you guys in Ballard? Pretty sure I know exactly which former church you're talking about. I've always wanted to see the inside! Dan'l's Caretaker's Apartment Small Cool Contest |

I just tried this taking a more french approach -- milk instead of water with the eggs, and fresh goat cheese at the bottom of the ramekin, with cracked pepper on top, served with buttered toast. So delicious! Will definitely try the chinese version soon. Recipe: Korean-Style Steamed EggsRecipes from The Kitchn |

The last "luncheon" I attended was in my final year of high school at an all girls' catholic school, as part of "Etiquette Day". (No joke.) This was the last vestige of pre-feminist traditions at the school, from an era where it was a finishing school for young women rather than an educational institution for the next generation of leaders... I'm in Seattle, and lucked out with an apartment (that's not even on the top floor) where I can see all of Ballard, Magnolia, and Fremont, and then see out to Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. Even in Seattle, there aren't too many people who can claim that they can see glaciers from their bed. Facts & Figures: How Much is a View Worth? |

So, usually I'm not the person to do this, but the phrase is "au naturel" and is French for "in the nude." Celeste & Nikolai's Au Natural Loft House Call |

In Seattle, we got over/got bored by Chihuly a loooooong time ago. Funny that for most of us here, his works suggest dull corporate art rather than the avant garde. Inspiration Board: Chihuly |

Yay Phinney Ridge! I know right where this house is, and it is beautiful. Though, truth to be told, there are lots of understated beauties in this neighborhood. Brian's Boarding House House Tour |

Frank Lloyd Wright built one of his first private commissions for my great grandfather, who was one of the owners of the Winslow Brothers Iron Works. Elevator screens created by the Winslow Brothers are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I Can't Believe My Parents Got Rid Of (Insert Item Here)... |

I have three vintage fruit packing labels that I framed a while ago. The labels were super cheap (each under $7) while being graphically very strong and colorful. I bought off-the-shelf frames for them (about $25 each), and then had mats professionally cut (another $25 per mat). It was a little expensive, but they look AWESOME. I get lots of comments on them when friends come over. 15 Finds: Absolutely Affordable Art for the Kitchen |

The floral fabric on the chair is from Ikea. It's great stuff -- I've made several things with it, including a couple of bolster pillows and a little makeup bag. It's even better in person. K & K's Creative Space |

Ohmygosh, this is one of the best apartments I've seen on AT in a while. I very much want to see a full house tour, even if you don't win! Coco's Cozy Hollywood Regency |

My undergraduate college -- University College at the University of Toronto -- had afternoon tea every afternoon for the undergrads. It was pretty low-key: you'd show up, grab a mug of tea and a couple cookies, and hang out on the balcony catching up with people. It was a really great way to take a light study break mid-afternoon, and give you enough calories to make it through to dinner. Slowing Down With Afternoon Tea |

Why aren't you *wearing* that scarf?! It is AMAZING. If I owned it, I'd probably wear it every. single. day. Repurposing Sentimental Fabrics |

I've made the ones from Gourmet magazine twice now, and they were a hit with all of the dogs (and people) who tried them. Definitely great, and a fantastic, easy, cheap Christmas gift! Cookies For Canines: 9 Homemade Dog Treat Recipes |

I had a boyfriend many years ago who owned a flat in an old (1850's) rowhouse in London. Sometime during the '80s, his place was renovated and the fireplace was plastered over. He called me up one day and told me that he was going to put his fireplace back in. He tap-tap-tapped at the wall looking for the sound of the opening, and then took a sledgehammer to the plaster. Although we broke up before the project was completed, apparently he was successful, and even found a period black iron mantle/fireplace to re-install. Bold Black Fireplaces |

Colette is so, so lovely. I read The Ripening Seed a couple years ago, and found it to be a masterful, sensuous French novel. It's basically a non-creepy Lolita in reverse (the sexual awakening of a young man at the hands of a much older woman), but set on the French seaside. Not only is the writing superb, but the book is filled with wonderful descriptions of vivid texture and scent in a visually muted seaside landscape. So fantastic. Magazines are surprisingly unflammable. It's a long story, but when I was young I once chucked a large glossy magazine into a wood burning stove and shut the door. The next morning, the magazine had retained its shape - including turnable pages - but the entire thing had been turned to ash. You could see the pictures (albeit in shades of grey), and in some cases, the text was still legible. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. This home is really lovely -- it looks very comfortable and cozy. I think if my mom had a better sense of what she wanted in terms of interior decoration, this would be close to her ideal. Marty's Warm & Inviting on a Budget House Tour | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

Replacements, Ltd makes a cameo appearance in one of my favorite movies of all time - June Bug. Several of the characters work there. The scene where they're sorting and packing china is pretty cool. Replacements, Ltd. | Apartment Therapy New York |
