What a wonderfully creative way to create a space for your daughter! I agree there is plenty of space in there to play ... kids really are so flexible .... I think we can really underestimate that beautiful trait in children. Thanks for sharing Elsa's barn door hideaway!

I wanted to address the above concern of SIDS in this small room and can see now I should have provided some more details in our description of 'how' Rosie sleeps in her room especially if people are getting room ideas from this site.

It is very important to have a well ventilated space and this was our 1st concern as we started to think about where a baby would fit into our studio. We would have never considered this space if it didn't have a window, which is alway open when she's sleeping (our mild CA weather allows us this luxury) (and yes there is a child lock on it).

Second, we always turn her fan on to help circulate air when she goes to bed (it also helps with providing more white noise).

Thirdly, the doors that 'close' don't create a seal - we purposely created 1" gaps at the top and bottom to provide more air flow. And every night when we go to bed we open the doors.... mostly b/c she's such a cute little morning alarm clock waving and smiling at us! And as our own disclaimer no one should attempt such a small space with out thoroughly understanding the dangers of SIDS and making the necessary adjustments to decrease the risk.

As for 'smashing' Roo's fingers, I guess you will just have to trust that we've already thought of that and take the necessary precautions so that won't happen.

Shannon
