My husband and I are both Americans however I grew up attending French Canadian schools (in Québec) and he grew up in an English speaking home but was taught to speak Spanish fluently. We now live in Montreal and are expecting our 1st; I plan on speaking French with her, my husband speaking Spanish and when all together speaking English. We hope this works well! We are not sure about what language for school yet however I have found that schools that have a divided schedule (ex: 50% English, 50% French) seem to put kids at a disadvantage, they often end up speaking both languages poorly. 5 Easy Ways of Fostering Bilinguism in Your Child |
