Love everything about this room.. its just so cozy.
100% agree about the PAX wardrobe. We got the single version for our daughter's room and it took over a (very busy, hectic) month to finally put the door on it.

I think this is an interesting post, but I do have to comment that half of the appeal of the KURA bed is that you can flip it upside-down and it becomes a canopy-esque bed (as presented on the IKEA website, I'm not making this up!) :)

This house looks both lovely and lived-in.. something you don't see all that often on AT.
And of course, I always love seeing a Philly home :)

I like *some* things about this house (ALL of the rugs and throw pillows, staircase bookcase, their pups) but, mostly, it looks like they JUST moved in (like.. yesterday).

Emilyryz hit the nail on the head on this one.

I also don't understand people losing their s#!+ over painted brick. It's dried mud, people. Rectangles of reddish-brown dried mud. There's nothing "special" or "charming" or "unique" about brick and as many people appreciate painted brick as those who hate it. It also tends to make rooms look *very* dated, especially in this instance when combined with wood paneled walls. Personally, there's a little too much paint in this room for my taste, such dark paint at that.. but I get that its a home theater so dark paint was necessary. Overall, they did a great job with execution.. it looks very neat.

Maybe if they bring in some "earthy" elements through furnishing to warm it up? Like a raw-slab coffee table paired with warm textiles and pattern? Or whatever suits *them*, since it is THEIR home and all.. :)

I totally agree with @jess13 re: the dangerous baseboard heater/floor-length curtain combo.

Very cute room, though!

I'm another with a front door that opens directly into our living room. For now, we have a crock with the kids' shoes in it. My husband and I *try* to keep our shoes in our bedroom closet but there are usually a pair or two laying around the house. We do have a rear entry that is much more discreet and I could definitely figure out a more organized storage solution to go back there.. we just need to start using the back door!

One Simple Idea: Put A Bolt In Your Ceiling
11/1/12 5:54 PM

I just wanted to say that I found so many of these comments very helpful. I'm due with our second child in about 7 weeks and my daughter will be only be 22 months-old at that time. I've been struggling with ideas on how to introduce her to the concept of bringing home another baby and haven't been able to come up with much since she's still so young. She knows that "baby" = my growing belly, but that's about it.
We did get the book 'You're Getting A Baby Brother" by Sheila Sweeny Higginson which is very catchy and cute but, still, not sure she's making the connection so I'm sure she's going to be blind-sided when the event actually takes place.

I was wondering when to move her into a big girl bed, though, and figured we'd do it at some point later down the road after the baby's born since he will be inheriting her crib. It wasn't obvious to me that it would or could upset her, but I can totally see that now. Guess we'll be making a trip to IKEA this weekend!

Thanks again for the advice
