If it were between this option and being homeless--I'd live in the pod but get out as soon as I could. It's hard to believe a building with such a dense arrangement of people would meet fire code regulations. This is shameful for a Western country like Japan to allow people to live like this. Where do some makers get off charge $650 or $399 for a lightweight outdoor chair? There are barely any materials in the thing and the design isn't any better than some of the (much) cheaper options. I like the crate and barrel version but even $149 is a little pricey--though not horrible. Best Outdoor Dining Chairs 2013 Apartment Therapy's Annual Guide |

Whatever you do, please don't install any cheap ass IKEA cabinets in an 1890's SF Victorian. After seeing so many people spend huge amounts on high end appliances, floors and layout changes its a travesty that they then cheap out on the cabinets. I grew up in a part of rural Michigan (lower peninsula), which isn't nearly as beautiful as the area pictured by the author. There isn't much to miss, flat ugly land, pre-fab houses on treeless lots, and lots of narrow minded people with advanced weaponry stashed away in their homes. I got out of that hole as soon as I could and moved to NYC. It's a huge improvement, but if I could move to a more beautiful rural area that isn't populated by NRA types then I'd be tempted. Unless you turn the master bath into a bedroom, I'm afraid the shape of that living room does not lend itself well to partitioning. If she must have a private space then I think its more feasible to give her the entire living room and perhaps build a temporary wall that separates the living room and creates a small hallway for the rest of the household to enter the kitchen. Once she has made her bed she can open up her room for the rest of the family to use. You could easily fit a bed *and* couch and TV in that space. How To Partition Living Room to Create a Guest Room? It's definitely an improvement, but personally I like to leave the "hotel" look to actual hotels. I prefer my living space to be a bit warmer and more personal. Before & After: A Modern Bathroom Update in the West Village |

It looks good. I'm not a fan of IKEA kitchen cabinets because the frames are made of particleboard, but I understand they have a generous warranty so maybe its not so bad. Before & After: A Kitchen Makeover with IKEA Cabinets |

I like these ideas. I'm hoping to use a similar lighting effect and hopefully not use a fog machine this year. The fog looks great, but people don't like breathing it in. Spooky Halloween Lighting Tips & Ideas House Logic |

It's all about context in this case. In the photo, the house adjacent are all painted in bright colors and look good together as a group. A single house painted bright blue among white or grey houses wouldn't look so great. Up For Discussion: Would You Ever Paint Your Home a Vibrant Color? |

I think they are fun and will tempted to get one in either yellow or red when they are released. However, I think perhaps a phone with a splash of color on the back would be better--like a stripe or design. The standard, black, gray or white colored phones are getting tired. If colored phones catch on though I can see it getting annoying real quick (Oh God, another yellow phone? jeez!) lol How Important is Color to Your Mobile? |

Passwords and PIN's in general have become insanely difficult to manage. The number of apps, websites and work functions that require them are through the roof and they are requiring increasingly complex and lengthy strings with each passing year. Almost everyone I know keeps a list of passwords in their cellphone or worse yet, written on a piece of paper. I understand that this is to combat identity theft, so I'm not against it -- but I don't how I'll manage when I'm forced to enter 10 eight digit passwords a day that contain random characters that need to be changed every 30 days. I got a beautiful white couch a few years ago. Since I don't have kids or pets--and the salesperson told me it was stain resistant-- that I'd have no problems. Not. It turns out that dyes transfer quite easily from clothing to a white couch. Despite regular cleaning it acquired a dingy look. White couches are for decoration only--not for actual use.
