My parents did this for both my brother and I back in the early 80's - I was just visiting my parents for my 31st birthday last weekend and took my (almost) annual photo with my magnolia. It has managed to live for all of these years, even after many trimmings and rough winters in upstate New York. My brother's tree (can't remember the type) had to be replaced a few times over the years, but it has never bothered him in the least. He still knows it's his. Birth Tree: Would You Plant One? |

These may be a stretch - but they are two things people are always impressed that I know how to do (which of course, baffles me because I learned them both in middle school). How to drive a stick shift car/truck and how to uncork a bottle of wine or champagne. Recommended Basic Self-Sufficiency Skills? Good Question |

My boyfriend and I did something similar to this last weekend. We called it our "Brooklyn Stay-Cation". When so many of our weekends are spent with other people for birthdays, weddings, showers, etc. (which of course we love doing!), we rarely just get to relax at home together. We got up early and went golfing on Saturday, saw some live music that afternoon, and got a couples' massage on Sunday, all in our immediate area. It was perfect!
